Everything has worked out perfectly at the Slams this year, besides a disappointing AO! Congrats Lady! Between Rafa & Anduh, the past three Slams have been pretty sweet! Oh and someone on my FB put up a status about how Serena Williams has tied the Swiss maestro for most men's GS titles and that Steffi's record for the women is safe since out of the active women Sharapova has the most Slams. I pointed out that Margaret Court holds the record and if you discount Serena, Venus has the most Slams. This person then said the Williams "brothers" don't count and are closing on the Swiss genius' record of men's Slams. When I replied, oh you mean the Swiss Miss Federer who starts crying at the drop off a hat? the response I got was "Listen you need to relax, buddy". I don't even know where to begin...SMH.

Federer is the prettiest lady on court. Everybody knows that. Should you have the audacity to question this, he will show you up with a new lace trimmed tennis blazer that is absolutely to die for.
This is what I would write if I could find that status.
Some of your facebook friends at the worst. You know this.

I'm watching now and this is awesome stuff.
I looove this version of Rafa that adapts his game to hardcourt and doesn't rely on defense and bouncing the ball over your backhand. I wish he played like this all the time, but of course he doesn't have to.

I just noticed that Hlavackova won both the women's and mixed doubles. It's weird that doubles and singles success have not gone hand-in-hand at all for her (or Hradecka, Hsieh or Peng) this year. You'd think some confidence would carry over at least.

I agree Rafa's career slam puts him ahead of Sampras now, but he's a dead cert to tie Pete's 14 and probably surpass it.
Would be quite some storyline if he did it at the same time as Serena tying/surpassing Evertilova's 18.
It's not remotely implausible to start thinking about Rafa catching Roger's 17 and Serena catching Steffi's 22. The question is STILL their own health rather than a particular opponent(s) blocking them. They both just beat their main current rival, and Nole and Vika respectively both lost ground.

“During the match, the thought that kept coming to my mind was that I was watching a genius,” said Wojtek Fibak, the former Polish player hired by Djokovic as a coaching consultant. “It’s like Chopin who was born to compose music. Nadal was born to win tennis matches.”

Against players he didn't need to come back against in 2011! The intensity of their matches really disguises the fact that apart from Nole's streak of 7 in 2011- Jan 2012, Rafa has dominated their h2h pretty comprehensively. I understand your point, that's obviously true. It's just during that dominant streak it looked like Rafa will never beat Novak again, it was such a hopelessness. And it was final after final. Novak even beat Nadal this year at Monte-Carlo! Pretty convincingly. So I'll never have a complete confidence that Rafa will win vs Novak, but at least I don't go into matches convinced that he will lose anymore. I felt that way, too. It seemed like Nole was permanently lodged in Rafa's head the way Rafa had been/is lodged in Fed's head. And we all know how well Fed got over that. What I didn't realize was that Rafa, despite his injury problems, would be able to keep evolving his game in a way that Federer never could, and would somehow be able to dislodge Nole from his head. That he did that pretty emphatically is really exciting to me. I hope they'll each keep pushing each other to new heights for a lot more years -- but with Rafa ending up way on top, of course.

Remember when the consensus on MTF was that Rafa didn't have a good enough serve to win any non-RG slams? Because the idea that one might improve such a thing was unfathomable?

The status was active women who could threaten Graf's "record" of 22 with the most being Sharapova with 4. Because Court was not Open era, the Williams are men because of their physical appearance, Henin is retired and Sharapova is OMGSOPRETTY. During the Slams I realize what terrible people I have on my Facebook when it comes to tennis.
