Go Stan

Heh, that is my only thought as well. All I want is Stan as Swiss No 1. The earlier-than-anticipated return of Cilic

STAN STAN STAN - I don't care about Swiss number 1, I just want to see him qualify for the stupid tournament. Seems most likely, but Tsonga and Gassy are credible threats.
Also, DRUGS DRUGS DRUGS

The ATP website just reminded me that Ferrer won this last year and I giggled.

I just realized that Gassy and Tsonga are credible threats, who face each other in the third round. And Raonic is not winning this, nor likely to make the final required to qualify. Whatever, Stan is fine. WOOT

"Cilic should receive an immediate boost in the rankings on Monday as he has been permitted to retain the ranking points and prize money in the five subsequent events he played after the Munich tournament, including his run to the final of the AEGON Championships at the Queen's Club in June."
I really don't get these drug rules.

STAN STAN STAN - I don't care about Swiss number 1, I just want to see him qualify for the stupid tournament. I don't care about either thing; I just want Stan to be the champion. Enough already with these 2nd-place trophies of woe!

If nothing else, the way this Cilic affair has been handled reassures me that the ITF are just too incompetent to do a proper cover-up. What a farce.

Ouch for him.

Looks like Gassy and STAN will round out the stupid tournament, then (Raonic, Haas, and Almagro are all technically still in it, but no).

Tsonga LOST? LOL.
Hey, good for Reeshar. First another Grand Slam SF, now another WTF. And is this Stan's first time?
And yes, I am also discounting a Wownic/HaasBeen title run.

But we'll never discount the Almagro title run that the ATP website tells me is possible - right?

Post by lexpretend on Oct 30, 2013 2:46:41 GMT -5
I don't discount, this is the last Masters and everyone who's qualified for the WTF just wants to rest, which leads to things like Janowicz last year. This is probably just worry on Stan's behalf speaking, though.

Stan winning his first round means that Almagro is out. This is sad, because I was taking the possibility of his title run very, very seriously. Stan has to lose soon, Gassy has to keep winning, Raonic has to make the final, and Haas needs to win - that is the only way Stan doesn't make it. Gassy being overtaken by Haas or Raonic is slightly possible, but Stan seems good.

Haas is 2-6, 2-5 down to Kohli so no WTF for him, I expect. And that means I am satisfied with the line-up because I definitely don't want to see Raonic near it.

Raonic is still in it, officially, though we're correct to count him out. He has to make the final, and I think Gasquet has to lose in a round or two.

What qualies? I guess Stan's not as good as I wished he was.

I don't get Berdych at all. I don't think I've ever felt such apathy for a top player before.

Djokovic cleaning up this fall - 3 titles (2 Masters) and no losses post-USO. Is it still possible for him to end #1 this year even though he is defending champ at WTF?

Nadal has to get 400 points or something. The magic number is somewhere, where I read it hours ago.

Ferrer beat Nadal?! Federer beat Delpo?! Third consecutive week that Ferrer loses a final (his seventh of the year). Apt.
