Parmentier?! Not that there's any better FRA choice. BAN RECIPROCAL WILD CARDS. Vickery is at least a promising up-and-comer but there's no reason an American should get an AO WC in the first place.
Second completely random winner of the Asian WC in a row - Yuxuan Zhang won it last year then did nothing for the whole year. Tang didn't show any signs of promise in 2013. At least they had to win a tournament though, can't say they didn't deserve it. I wish the other Slams had regional WC play-offs too.

Yeah, I think regional playoffs are a great idea.
Disappointing to read that about Yuxuan Zhang. I forgot all about her post-AO, but now I remember thinking that she was possibly on her way out of the Hidden World, when she won that WC last year. Guess not! Shelby Rogers is another disappointment since winning her two 2013 Slam WCs.

So how are our deserving WCs faring in the warm-ups?
Vickery - lost in the first round of qualifying in Auckland to the lesser Pliskova Tang - lost in R2 of the HK 25K to Hozumi Parmentier - lost in the SF of the HK 25K to Kulichkova
17-year-old Kulichkova carried on her stellar form from last year to win that 25K and is easily a more deserving WC than any of those.
