Can't figure out where to put this, so it's here. It needs a spot, because I am happy because Wownic beat Tomic.

When I first got into tennis, Hopman Cup was my favorite thing. I don't know why.
I briefly misread your post as being happy Wownic won something, but them realized it was instead pleased with Tomic's loss.

What's the cult nickname for Bouchard?

I sort of hate Bouchard, due to her having such a prissy name.

Bouchard isn't interesting enough to have a nickname. Quite amused that her actual name sounds so French, but she's actually an Anglo Québecois and named after a member of the British royal family.

Bouchard's FH makes me wince.

It's true that Bouchard is a Barbie, though. I'm neutral about her, actually I guess I kind of like her, just to have new blood in the mix, and to have another Canadian who wins matches, even if not today. Which reminds me, I wonder what will happen with the unlucky Wozniak this year?

Because if I were a huge Wownic fan I'd be stunned and dismayed by his loss to one "Grzegorz Panfil", instead of finding it funny.

The loss to Gregorz Panfil is indeed hilarious. I hope that Panfil becomes a thing so that I can write his name more often.

We're overestimating tennis players abilities. If you're playing often enough, weird things are gonna happen on the court. Just last week my opponent hit a dropshot that had so much backspin it bounced back over the net. I remember people orgasming over Niculescu doing that, but seeing that an average club player can do that, too, I no longer see any need to go all crazy about stuff like that. On an odd day, Errani will hit an ace, Radwanska will hit a winner and a squirrel will come onto the court. These things happen.

That doesn't mean they're not still fun to look at, though.
Panfil lost to Tomic, ruining Hopman Cup for me.
