Bouchard is hitting relatively deep and hard and doesn't make many errors. Consistency is what it's winning her matches. Excelling at basic shots, but nothing that would really wow you.

No new information but Goerges is such an idiot on court

Her backhand! I don't exaggerate if I say that mine is better.
Still though, why doesn't she hit it with some topspin down the line. In 80% she would get the ball back to her forehand.

Davis has legitimately improved from last year I think. Slightly more pop on her shots, really good at changing the direction of the ball and confounding Goerges. Not that it takes much to do that.
The day starts and ends with a moron basher from Germany losing.

This loss sends Goerges out of the top 100, I believe. Stay there please

Happy for Sam and for little Laura. I don't have a feel for Bouchard yet one way or the other, but if she doesn't screech and doesn't choke, she starts out on the plus side for me.
As for Tsveti, the only good thing I can say is that I'm glad she spent years preparing us for disappointments like this.
Two guys are still out there playing, but I don't feel like tuning in.

Didn't know this. From Bencic interview: Q. Still limited in the number of tournaments you can play because of your age. Is that frustrating?BELINDA BENCIC: No, I mean, it's not frustrating now. It's okay, because I get three extra tournaments because I finished in the year in the top 5 juniors and I was in the final of two Grand Slams. So it's okay now. I can have more tournaments, so, yeah, it's enough. That is really not much of an age restriction at all, then. And she'll be 17 in early March, so, really, she can play plenty.

I remember when bitching about the AER rules were all the rage back in Ma$ha's early days.

Regarding that "still hot" issue. Why don't they schedule singles matches as first and last two on each court and squeeze all those doubles matches inbetween? That way the singles players who work considerably harder that those doubles specialists, don't get to play in the extreme heat. I is so smart!
