Monfils and Nadal will be on when I'm sleeping. Sad face.

Yeah, the best men's players are always on at bad times. On the other hand, tonight Zarina Diyas is on early, and finally on a tv court! I look forward to getting a peek at the one true KAZ.

Halep has no coach right now? I didn't know that. Good for her.

Diyas looked good, easily up 40-15 in the first game -- then it all fell apart and she was broken. Classic start for a newbie to the big stage, but disappointing.

Well I was excited to get a chance to see Diyas, but Halep's the one who's looking sharp and playing great. Love the angles she gets, her movement, just everything working right now, and Diyas looks out of her league. At least at the moment, but I think I'll roam elsewhere rather than watch this trouncing.

I might be up a couple more hours. Anything worth trying to get a stream on, Janie?

Diyas makes the difference between ITF and WTA painfully obvious.

Yes. No wonder the Hidden World stays hidden. So I switched to JJ, that wasn't marvelous either. Maybe my expectations are too high for these particular players. At least Diyas is holding her own in the 2nd set, so I might go back there.

Nara? But is this just a flaky JJ thing, or a real Nara thing?

Sharapova is still crap, but she's winning. I'm afraid she'll stop being crap at some point.

Sharapova is still crap, but she's winning. I'm afraid she'll stop being crap at some point. I know! She got 43% of 1st serves in in the 1st set, and won it 6-1? At least Cornet kept her out there longer than it looked like she would at first. I don't think Sharapova's shoulder is necessarily holding up very well. Last I looked at the fastest serves stat, Sharapova's fastest serve was just under that of Duque-Marino's. That made me very happy, but what good is it if she wins anyway. Meanwhile, advising Chole to look in on Klizan turned out to be a bad call -- unless you love watching an 0-6 first set -- so it's just as well she left.

From what I have read and seen, I expect Sharapova to get crushed by Cibulkova. Hopefully, that opens up a run to the semifinals for JaJa.

The White Mug took out Woz as expected I'm impressed that Domi lost two games combined against two of the more dangerous players in the draw, but LOL if you really think Fighting Warrior Ma$ha won't get herself through. Dimitrov finally reaches the second week of a Slam. Can't believe I predicted it, put money on it and it actually happened.

Wow, a few minutes ago I was thinking about how Nishikori invariably disappointed me and then he PEAKED to win five games in a row vs. Young. Who is whinging and moaning as a result, obv.

Nishikori really has some of the loveliest strokes around when he's not playing passively and aimlessly.

Young threw his toys out of the pram after EVERY point in the last game of the second set (he was broken to love).

Seriously, I've never seen Young smile on court or look remotely happy to be there or indeed like anything other than a petulant teenager even though he's now 24 years old. He's like a D-rate Wuss.

Monfils hasn't been playing badly and the games have been close and he's down 0-4.

Sure, that underdog Ma$ha is going down, The Cat The scenario reminds me a lot of RG'09. Masha coming back from a messy shoulder, bullshitting her way through matches to still be in the tournament when she should be out. If she beats Cibulkova, she'll obviously beat JaJa who is useless. That sets up the inevitable beating by evil Azza which must not happen.

And yes, Dimitrov finally making the second week of a Slam should have a reaction of "What took you so long". Haven't seen the draw so don't know who he's playing but is a QF possible?

Bautista Agut, against whom he's 1-2, so I'd say there's a strong chance of Dimitrov ending here.

I hope no one stayed up for hours waiting to see Mooseburger triumph. So glad Donald is out. I felt like puking when someone on tv, or maybe just quoted on the TTC crawl, proudly said "he's walking around again with a swagger". Really, Don? You won TWO matches -- one by retirement! Being the last US player standing is not some kind of giant triumph any more, kid. Agut's good. Hope he gets on a fancy court. Wownic. And in Ali's defense, he's still not quite The Cat, because, as far as I know, he didn't predict Ma$ha would lose to Cornet.
