WAIT, WHAT?? I can't imagine a more shocking result to wake up to, but I LOVE this! Good for Ana. Fortunately for me, I don't hate her. For me she's in the same category as Azza and Eugenie: I'm just indifferent to them. In Azza's case, I'm with Chole, and would much, much rather see her win Slam titles, or any titles, than the sugar pusher. But WTF happened out there?? Serena??? I can't get this through my head yet. Let me get some caffeine and start reading up on it.

Serena was totally flat (and she is probably injured). BAG was solid the whole match and didn't make too many dumb errors. The whole time I was wondering when she would start choking, but it never happened. You would think Serena losing to BAG would be unwatchable, but the last 2 sets are OK to watch.

Yeah, it turns out Serena was battling a back injury. But still, how many times have we seen an injured, ill, or badly out of shape Serena defeat a player due to their choking? It's unreal to me that Ana, of all people, didn't succumb to her nerves. I'm surprised at how happy I feel for Ana. She's just been slogging away all these years since her RG title with nothing to show for it. It's nice to see. As for her idiotic fans, I could care less about them. Unless they actually come barging into my house and shouting in triumph, they're not on my radar.

While Williams went to great lengths to pay tribute to Ivanovic and not make excuses for her loss, her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, revealed that the top seed was struggling with a back complaint. A problem so bad Williams was unable to carry her own bag onto court.
"I don't want to blame anything. I feel like Ana deserves all the credit. I feel she played unbelievable today. I think she went for her shots," said Williams.
"It's not like I gave her the match. I tried to fight the best I could today."
Could perpetual teen Serena finally be growing up?

I am the only one that likes Azza, yeah? I don't like, root for her actively, but if I must choose, it's usually her. I mean, please not Masha. Ugh. I want a final I will actually watch. In which case, back to Na. Can that please happen? You're not the only one. I root passively for her. I generally don't care that much about her results one way or the other, but in matches that matter (i.e. her vs. Serena, Maria, etc.) I'm pretty solidly on her side. Same for me. Azza over those 2 any day. She's so disliked that there will be no gloating if she wins. I prefer Na to all of them obviously, but she won't win so...

Does Serena not know that you only have to hit to BAGs backhand three times in a row and you automatically win the point?
Baffling that in 2014 Ivanovic can beat a top 10 player.

It's not BAG's TF fans that are annoying, it's the B-grade Sugarpova glamour nonsense whereby she's treated like Ma$ha by tournament directors and given show court slots, Pretty Girl WCs and so on. It's not her fault but she's representative of all the WTA's institutional misogyny. Plus, she's really annoying with the desperate ajdeeeees etc.
