Nole with the break in the fifth. He's winning all the punishing rallies and Stan can't hit through him any more.

So, the Bouchard win seems tiny now, after seeing this. Bouchard is this year's Sloane, and we'll just have to get used to it because it will last all year. But anyway, good for her, and goooooo Canadian tennis!

It'll have a bad outcome (for me) with a now-NID Rafa win, but I'll take momentary Stan happiness this time.

Unrelated: can anyone remember the last classic Slam match Sharapova was involved in? I was thinking recently how "what's good for the game" isn't actually big names but great tennis - that's why everyone remembers Schiavone winning RG fondly! - but Sharapova matches tend to be either a) Sharapova squashing scrub, boring; b) Sharapova getting squashed by her superiors, boring; c) error-fest mess. I genuinely can't remember her last Slam match that was memorable for the right reasons.

Probably AO 2006 vs Christine for sheer quality.

Yesss! I am thrilled to be rid of Nole. Best result of this tournament. I wish I could've seen the match (sounded amazing from tweets and messages)...damned work! And so happy for Stan. He's had so many close calls in the past year...amazing! Will watch highlights on YT.
Re: classic Masha matches, I can't think of any recently. Her three-setters with Azza (whether she wins or loses) are hideous error-fests. The only "good" matches were against her pigeon Stosur in Stuttgart in 2013 or 2012. How was the Rome final against Li where she saved mp? But yes for the last truly classic match involving her we would need to go to the 2007 YEC finals against Justine.
Classic matches in general have declined on SEWTA. Masha being a contributor to this of course.

STAN!
Sadly, I only just learned of this now, which means I did not see any of it. On the bright side, it happened.
Ugh, Berdych. I am so apathetic about him that it angers me. Please win, Stan.
