IW schedule, and links to the massive pre-q draws. Hradecka has to play all these matches just to get to qualies? Wow. I thought pre-qualies were for players like Brie. And it's true, there have been a lot of bagels dished out so far. m.bnpparibasopen.com/Events/Calendar-of-Events.aspx

So Nasty Rodio played all those matches just to get into qualies -- only to get bumped in Q1 by Van Uytvanck. That must have been a fun sight to witness.
QWC Falconi won just 2 games from Giorgi, but fellow QWC Brengle dumped out Oprandi, who has not unfortunately not been successful in her latest comeback.
Nice to Yung-Jan Chan fight past Candle Head; would love to see her rise again.

Nice to see Robby Ginepri, now ranked 311, easily come through his Q1 match.
On the women's side, good to see Heather Watson qualify, but annoying to see MLDB qualify despite serving up 15 DFs (to 1 ace).

I really wish I had not turned on the scoreboard just now. Who wants to see Bepa at 64 06 56 0-30?

Taylor Townsend has reached a first-set tb against Knapp; that's impressive for her. This match is on TTC right now. Taylor's still big, of course, but she doesn't look flabby. I like her game and would love to see her get a win here, but beating Knapp, and in a Premier MD, would be such a huge step beyond anything she's ever done that I'm not getting my hopes up.

Falla won. Somewhere, Brinyi is smiling. And Michael Russell took out one of the world's lifetime-record WC recipients, Donald Young.
Nice to see Kleybanova get a win, even though I wish it weren't over Duval, whom I like.

hi Janie...I like Duval, too, and was still glad to see AK get a win. She did look bushed from the heat. I saw AK first 2004 IW, I think, met Briny and watched tennis with him that year, too. Kleybanova was a hefty 14 year old, I think, made it through quallies and was playing a moon-baller. She lost that day frustrated with the loopy balls but showed a lot of talent. Her nervous anorectic mother took leave. I like to think of Briny smiling... www.bnpparibasopen.com/~/media/3CAA92BE1B6B420AAC6559EDC400224E.ashx?w=635&h=423oh well, nice Kleybanova picture at IW photos

freudo, hi! Yes, I still associate IW with you and Brinyi. And there was another poster you two used to meet there, too, wasn't there? I remember her talking about a very young Sharapova. Very happy for Kleybanova to have such a decisive r2 win, and also nice to see Wozniak squeak past Lisicki. They both really need these points. As for Rafa, yeah, that wasn't a very impressive outing, was it. Looks like he started slowly and never really got going; haven't read about the match yet, so I hope he's not hurt.

Well, well, well. Sharapova bites the dust. Remember when she was pretty good?

Yep, Rafa was never in it. He's out to Dolgopolov. Muzza struggling as well but he won.
Glad to see Domi continuing her fine form. And always happy to see that someone has to lose in a Stephens/BAG match.
Things seem more up in the air this year. Serena and Rafa are vulnerable. No real defined leader of either tour. Interesting how the rest of IW and Miami unfold.

Oh, man. I love Sharapova losing, but to wake up to headlines putting her in the same headline with Rafa doing the same is takes away the fun of it. What's wrong with Rafa?
But yeah, it's true that this season has been one of surprises, and that's always a good thing for sports fans. I'm just glad I don't hate Sloane, because she's suddenly doing well.

It's up to Flavia now. Of all people to reach the final! I don't mind Aga but a Flavia title would be fabulous.

Federer is more fun to watch against Nole because his mental crumbling is not as extreme. Sure he's not winning, but he's not just rolling over and dying, either.

Federer-Djokovic becoming a rivalry if last two matches are any indicator. And with Nadal and Murray floundering, who knows where this may lead?
