Of course the big news-in-waiting is about Rafa. If he doesn't play, the whole thing doesn't seem much fun. And if it feels that way to me, I assume Lady won't even feel like stopping by.

USTA awards eight Open wild cardsUpdated: August 13, 2014, 1:33 PM ET Associated Press NEW YORK -- Australia's Bernard Tomic and France's Michael Llodra are among eight men receiving wild-card invitations for the US Open's main draw. Ryan Harrison, Tim Smyczek, NCAA champion Marcos Giron, Wayne Odesnik , and teenagers Jared Donaldson and Noah Rubin also were wild-card entries announced Wednesday by the U.S. Tennis Association. Odesnik, who served a 12-month ban after getting caught with human growth hormone, earned his wild card based on results at USTA Pro Circuit events. He last appeared in the US Open's main draw in 2009. Francis Tiafoe, a 16-year-old from Maryland, was given a wild card for US Open qualifying. [who are the others??] Tomic and Llodra got their spots in the main draw via reciprocal agreements the USTA has with the Australian and French tennis federations. The US Open begins Aug. 25.

Yeah, that's why I've started paying way more attention than usual to the juniors. Looking for some new kids to get behind. Unfortunately I don't think a single one of them is ready to make a big splash. One good thing about being a Kvitova fan is that our expectations are always so low. That was never the case with me with Justine, so her matches were excruciating to watch or even to follow on a scoreboard. With Kvitty I can just laugh when she messes up, because that's her way. (As long as she doesn't mess up against Sharapova, of course. ;-) )

End of tournament tomorrow. End of The Cult, apparently, now.

If The Cult doesn't even care about Baroni defeating Halep and Vaidisova's comeback, then it's hopeless!

I barely care about tennis at the moment, so it's not even the Cult's fault. Everything is boring.
