Poor Philly. Killed for the 3rd time.

Cheer up Leelee. I was just teasing about Philly. Sorry Janie I didn't know it wasn't you who brought up Philadelphia. Leelee, I hope to see Elena Bovina on television this summer player a top player in an early round grand slam match. Elena needs something to get her started again and playing and upsetting a top player early in a grand slam this year could give her the momentum she needs to make her comeback a successful one.

No. I'd rather her win a handful of Tier 6 events.
She should be winning this week, instead of stupid Pennetta.

As we await Elena's name being mentioned in the Prague draw... let's relive some good memories.
2003 Australian Open. Elena comes back from like 2-5 down in the 3rd set to beat Maggie Maleeva in the 3rd round. Proving that Elena isn't the biggest Top 20 choker in slams.

Tier 6? You want Elena winning a Tier 6 tournament? She can do better than that when she finds her form. Alot better than that. But let's just hope she plays a tournament or 2 before Roland Garros to get the feel of playing world class tennis again.

She'll be injured again when she finds that form.
Winning is good.
Like you said with Maria when she was winning Tier 6's.

I refuse to believe so until the draw is out.
Why would her agent lie for the 2nd time.

She's off the entry list that was just re-released by the tournament.
We don't even know who this "agent" is. If it's the same agent who let her go out on court without a clothing contract from Scottsdale 03 forward and 100% confirmed her participation in New Haven then he has no clue what the fuck he's doing, and I don't believe a thing that comes out of his mouth.

Tomorrow will be the last day that our friend, Elena Bovina, will be ranked by the WTA.

That's sad news about Elena. Is it me or are the female Russian tennis players brittle? Most of the Russina's seem to battle one injury after another. Especially Bovina. And I wonder if how hard the Russina's are pushed as kids contribute to them being injury prone as professional tennis players. What do you think Leelee?

Elena has always been different from the other Russians, in that she's never overplayed.
She's brittle because she's not fit. Her legs are sticks, and her body has never been toned like it should be for a world-class athlete.
I think the problem now, however, is completely mental. She was never a tennis nut, and didn't like the travel of the tour, in the first place. After the last few years, I doubt she has much desire to live on tour again.

Leelee, you might be right about Elena not really loving tennis. If that's the case her heart might not be fully into a comeback.
And Elena definately hasn't overplayed on the WTA Tour. But did she overtrain as a child and young tennis player? I heard a story about Elena training so hard at Bolletteri's that Nick had to get her to stop even though Elena's mother wanted her to keep practicing. I guess it's the belief in Russian parents that success will only come from alot of hard work. This might explain Russian parents pushing their children so hard. If this is the case with Elena she might not have the desire and love for tennis to give it her all in a comeback. But I hope that's not the case and Elena is back soon.

She's actually still ranked with 4 tournaments for some reason on wtatour.com...
However, her 171 point total only counts her 96 points from Roland Garros 4r, and 75 from Rome QF... thus, only 2 tournaments, which is below the requirement of 3 tournaments in a calendar year, to be ranked.
I'm stumped on this one...
The only way I can see her having 4 tournaments is because she withdrew after the draw for US Open came out, and another tournament, or something.

Russian tennis player Elena Bovina, who occupies the 116th position in the rankings of the Women's Tennis Association, soon will return to competitive tennis after the very serious injury of her right arm. The sport agency "Entire Sport" reported the following from the agent of the tennis player, Aleksey Nikolayev. "Lena was prepared to return even in the beginning of May to the tournament in Prague, but these plans were not realized because of a new injury", described Aleksey Nikolayev, "Then Lena decided to put off her return to tennis for the month".
Why doesn't this sound right.

A new injury. Anyway, on wtaworld today, tenn_ace says that this agent claims that EB will be entering one of the 2 UK Wimbledon tuneups, but that they don't know which one yet. This sounds more hopeful than this other story. Who knows with these people.

She broke her shoulder against Nadya in the 4r.

I hope Elena plays Birmingham or Eastbourne. Or both. But I have my dounts because she can't seem to get her comeback started. Leelee, let's hope Aleksey isn't really a Russian Roulette poster in disguise. Maybe he really works with Elena. And don't gibve up on Bovina just yet. Maybe she will surprise us all this summer and start playing regularly again.

I wouldn't mind if Elena stopped playing.
It's these constant lies from her "agent", and not knowing what's going on with her that is aggravating.

Leelee, if Elena doesn't want to play anymore then she shouldn't even attempt a comeback. That will only work if she's healthy and has her heart into it. Is it possible she's in a relationship and that has taken her away from tennis?
