Even more than double, since the top players suck now, and gladly donate their bonus points to everyone.
I think it's rather ridiculous that Pierce and Dementieva are getting about 900 for reaching slam finals. Methinks the WTA has to kill bonus points like the ATP did.
Bovina was ranked about where she should be.
But, I'm going to be very annoyed when Wimbly comes around... and Pierce and Lik probably both get Top 12 seeds... while we're stuck in 13-16, getting our ass kicked in the 4r by Linzi/Maria... and some stupid scrub gets takes advantage of an easy draw and gets an unfair boost up the rankings.

I like the bonus points. They enable young kids like Ivanovic who knock off the odd top player to fly up the rankings and start getting seeded in Slams, which the 9-16 players appreciate. Who wants to face Ana in round 1? Nobody.

Yeah, it's great when Ivanovic gets them.
Not so much, though, when they benefit geezer suckwads like Sanchez Lorenzo and Garbin, which, I think, is Leena's point.

Yes, Lorenzo and Garbin are a joke. Lorenzo got more points for losing in the 2r, than most 4r players did.
My main point is players getting lucky to reach the later rounds in slams.
Dementieva at RG last year was the worst case of this. Davenport, injured... Amelie, don't even need to comment on that mess... even Anna Wall, injured. BAM, 842 points, and you're guaranteed great draws for 12+ months to get even more overranked!
Even Sweta, who's #5 by default for another couple months... took advantage of injuries, and was basically right place, right time.
Mary's run doesn't annoy me as much... because she did play her perfect power tennis that she's capable of doing about 2 matches a year now, at the right time. But... deep down we all know, that she'll be back to sucking it up soon after this.
These slam results are just getting annoying to me... that's all.

Okay, I do see your point. Unfortunately, this is what women's tennis has come to. We are in a particularly bad phase right now, with a lot of faux-elite players clogging up the top rankings. There are so few (are there any??) players right now who can play good tennis on a consistent basis, that's the problem; so, as you say, their bonus points are gifted left right and center to undeserving journeywomen as often as to rising new stars.
Now we just need the best players whose rankings have fallen, like Serena, Justine, Kim, to be the ones to seize those bonus points so they can get back on top and start being stingy with handing out their own points. It was great for Justine to bag Sharapova's. But I was especially glad that Mary and not Sharapova grabbed Lindsay's 200-pt. treasure chest!

Exactly. The entire point of having quality points is that when someone does beat a dominant force like Serena... it's like "Wow, what a great win!". It's not supposed to be "Ooh, I hope Amelie is in my section so she can choke for the 2134234th time in a slam, and I get big points!"
Lik being ranked ahead of Giant Barbie next week gets me frustrated.

Lik being ranked ahead of Giant Barbie next week gets me frustrated. Well that shouldn't last very long. It would be good if Giant Barbie would get as frustrated as you about it, and steel herself to change it. You'd think she could be good on the grass; she does have an able net game. But I forget what kind of serve she has, I haven't seen her play on tv in a long time.

Her serve still sucks. Way too much unnecessary motion. There's matches where she'll hold easily every game... then, the next match she'll get broken 6 straight times for no reason.
Bovina doesn't get frustrated. She's too ditzy to do that. She probably has no idea where she's even ranked.

Well, maybe it's time to revive this thing, after all. The RR on wtaworld has turned into something hideous with nonsenses like SS dementieva or whatever it is. Add GL's nothingness and there's hardly a post to read on a page

Really? I thought RR was alive and well over there! But I don't look there very often, so I guess I got a false impression. But GL is hilarious; she is so excited to announce on General Messages every celebrity party that Anna Kournikova goes to or whatever other nonsense AK gets up to. Too bad no one else cares. ;D wtaworld's RR was a lot of fun back when none of the Russians could win a title, and not too many people posted there. It was like a little family, bemoaning the Russian Titleless Curse, remember those days? But now the players have all gotten famous and pretty successful, and I guess it's all changed. Oh well! I will post here with you and Leena, vaiva! Just don't ask me to root for Maria.

Well, I don't want to rag on it, but really Look, I hit the last post in RR. I think that takes me to Lena D's forum (which I never read either way, her general cheering thread is too much to take lately). The post is huge but see the begining to get the grasp: Huh? Or let's try a random thread. "Wimbledon" it is. Supposedly, to discuss Russians' chances or performances in W. As started by GL: Huh? I don't remember the times when the RR was a small family setting. I joined the board later when the Curse was already over. But even then it was a place where you can discuss players and their games or have random fun. Now it's all big mess and full of crap like above. And even though I have never contributed anything meaningful there myself, at least it used to be an interesting read.

Actually, who cares.
Jacko is not guilty. Now that's something what really matters to me and the rest of the world.

Just don't ask me to root for Maria. Soon, you will be rooting for Queen Masha. Or is it Princess Masha?. Just wait until she starts wearing Annaesque makeup
