Okay, well Elena plays Callens tommorow, I think she can win, but Els does seem to be playing very well, on a bit of high after winning the doubles final.

I have to say I bet Nadia on this one, considering Elena's recent run of form against the other top russians. Lets have a look... Kournikova leads 1-0 Panova leads 2-1 (1 Yana retired) Myskina leads 3-2 Sharapova leads 1-0 Safina leads 1-0 (Alyona retired and should have won) Bovina 1-2 (YAY ALYONA!!) The last time she beat a fellow Russian I believe was @ the Aus Open 2002

I hope Elena starts to show the other Russian girls she means business! It's time for The Darling One to take care of business and take care of Nadia! ;D Udachi Elena!

Gotta go for a three setter. Happily Alyona making progress. IMO it depends on Alyona's returning and Nadia's serving. Hard to predict a winner.

Well today's win was a good one! Nice going, Elena! As for tomorrow -- I won't know until it's over who I want to win. By my happiness or sadness at the news, I will learn who I was subconsciously rooting for!

Unlucky to have played Nadia in the quarters. After her foot injury Alyona is back on track.

A successful Wimbledon for Elena would be to make the fourth run and play Serena Williams for the very first time. Anything less than the fourth round would be a dissapointment. This year Elena has already lost in the first round of the Australian Open and French Open. And that is unnacceptable! She needs to get her game together for Wimbledon. Udachi Elena!

After her foot injury, she's getting back she proved she can play on grass where she lost in three sets to N. Petrova IMO among the best 10 players at the moment. At least hopes alive to meet S. Williams.

Happy birthday to beautiful Elena! But it's too bad she lost on her birthday. One of her best friends Nadia Petrova beat her in straight sets in Zurich on Elena's birthday. But I hope Elena lets loose and enjoys her birthday! October 15, 2003 XOXO P.S. - Elena has played too much tennis this fall and needs some time off to rest up for the Fed Cup and the WTA championships in Los Angeles.

Good luck to Elena tomorrow -- though it's hard to really root against the likable Elena L. I wish she was playing someone else. Anyway, it's bizarre to see that the last post in ED's thread was from Oct 2003! She had her best year by far, reaching 2 Slam finals, since then! Consider your fan thread revived, ED!

ED is working with half-brother of Michaela Krajicek who's helping her improve her serve

Well, I blame Rich for those 13 DFs in 2 sets and mighty struggle against a random German bumpkinette

Well, her shoulder is injured. It's good that she's still in at all. They've got her on tv now trying to close this out -- she's SO CUTE! How can anyone not like ED!
but she's at bp on her serve ... this match could go on for DAYS, as no one can serve!

Miraculously through -- Mashona will be tougher than this kid, though! But I'm proud of ED for getting through even these 2 matches, when she wasn't sure she'd be able to play at all.

Janie, Mashona blows. A good rule of thumb.
