Not hitting dumb choking drop shots is part of being outstanding. I have very high standards, you know!

Now I'm going to have to come back from Daegu on Sunday early enough to watch the finals. I would have been tempted had it been Federer-Tsonga, but now I have virtually no choice. Sigh.

Congratulations to Novak Djokovic on beating Roger Federer in straight sets in their semifinal match. I didn't expect set straight set win for Novak. Now he has to seal the deal and win the 2008 Australian Open final against Tsonga who has the bigger and more powerful game. And I fear a Djokovic letdown in the final after beating Federer.

When Djokovic's oldest of the younger brothers is done with puberty .... eh, never mind. I'm not going to finish that thought. We're allllll thinking it. ;D Again...the gay favorite lost on me. Maybe I'm straight again!

Anyway. WOW. Straight sets no less. How about that. If he chokes and lets Tsonga win a Slam before he does... It won't happen. Novak is going to win a major!

No.
The only way Nole loses this final is if he totally chokes, or Tsonga serves incredibly well AND wins the tiebreakers, where Nole is amazingly good.
While Jo-Willy has had an awesome run, every match has been against defenders (Murray isn't really, but his serve was shit and he didn't play so great). Nole should expose Tsonga's weakness on defense.
And if Nole wins 1 of the first 2 sets, it's lights out.

Novak is going to win a major! Well, I think most of us gathered that it was going to happen sooner or later.

Just watched the end of the match again and hearing Djokovic's after match interview with The Courier again... I'll summarize everything he said, for those who missed it:
"It's kind of amazing how amazing I am. Wow. I'm amazing. Btw, Jim, you're like, twice as old as me. Did you hear that I'm amazing?"
BABIES.
The end.

Fed's advanced aging is quite enjoyable. Hopefully he doesn't discover viagra and rogaine.

26 is a common age when players start declining... Pete, Chang, Edberg, Becker, Guga... pretty much every recent top player except for Lendl and Agassi.
Not that I think Roger is yet. His bleh play was probably due to not much practice and the injury he had coming into Australia.

If he does, then Federer/Nadal/Djokovic establish themselves as the best triumverate/triad of power the sport has ever seen at one time. What about Borg/McEnroe/Connors?

Great win for Novak and he played a great match, but Fed was flat. He didn't play well this tournament. It makes for interesting tennis for the rest of 2008, though, which is great.
If Novak wins the final, he can make a solid case for #2. AO Champ, US Open finalist and Wimbledon and RG semifinalist. Won Masters Series events in Canada and Miami. Although, Nadal's got RG, a Wimbledon final, AO semi, Indian Wells, Monte Carlo and Rome (?). Anyhow, it's close.

But, seriously...it's like the Gasquet thing. When did looking 12 = looking hot? Because, um, I didn't receive shoulders from Jesus until I was, like, 22, and really? I was being STEADFASTLY AVOIDED by most. And that's when I needed ass; not now when all I want is to never be touched by anyone and for most people to really just die.
So I don't appreciate how things have turned, here.

We're being sold that young=teh sexxx and it seems what is meant by "young" is no longer "18 to 24" but 12.
Now for a gay guy to be hot, it means having zero body hair, weighting 90 lbs and having a baby face.

I'm watching a replay fo the Djokovic/Federer semifinal on ESPN2 and I'm wonderfing why Chris Flowler a college football host is doing the play by play of this match instead of Cliff Drysdale who has made tennis his life. I don't get it. Fowler is an amiable host for college football and tennis but I don't get the need to make him their lead play by play tennis commnetator when he only works at 3 tennis tournaments a year for ESPN2.

Because ESPN is a monopoly in the sports television business, and thus can get away with forcing whichever of their characters they want in any position.
What gets me most is when they promote future matches, and they have Announced by Dick Enberg, Patrick McEnroe, etc... in font about as big as the players. Who cares. That's how far ESPN is up its own ass.
You know, this board doesn't have an ESPN hate thread. Every other one I frequent has one.
