There is a $50K in College Park, Md. this week! I hope Hurley will go and report back --- and why wouldn't he? Nicole Pratt is playing!!! ;D MEP, too, etc etc ... In Q-Rd 1 news there, Leticia Sobral has already bit the dust.

Nice to see Shadisha again. I've been a great fan since she beat Monique Viele as a 14-year-old when some people still were convinced that Monique Viele was going to be the next great star. I believe Shadisha is at a uni now. Good luck also to my chica Soledad, and the unbolded S.Dubois ( ).

OMG!!! HOW COULD I MISS BOLDING STEPH!!!!! Will fix it now, & also Shadisha. Also, Steph and Sybille are NOT both seeded #6. Steph is apparently 7; will fix that too. Not to mention, since when is she a USian?? Go her, anyway.

Singles 1r: 4/128 Lepchenko (UZB) d. 287 Argeri (ARG) - 6-4,6-3 8/174 Mattek (USA) d. 268 Takase (JPN) - 6-3,6-1 255 Dabek (USA) d. 271 J.H Kim (KOR) - 6-2,2-6,6-3 276 Kix (AUT) d. 193 Fuda (JPN) - 7-5,6-2. MEP also lost, 5-7 in the 3rd to Ditty The sad thing about MEP is that she is STILL the Queen of Québec tennis, despite her unrelenting hopelessness! Someone has to step up ...

Also, it's been confirmed on wtaworld (for whatever that's worth!) that Haidy El-Tabakh has indeed changed her nationality from EGY to HOS.

Do you know what the HOS connection is, Janie? This came out of the blue for me and helps me get over the Beier Ko (SIN) business.

No, I have no idea how Heidi>Haidy became a hoser. The Hidden World is such a mysterious place, isn't it! I am still confused over Michaela Krajicek somehow turning into Michaella!

On the Scheveningen website this week they refer to her as Michaela, and that is a Dutch site! Haidy is claiming Toronto as her home now -- maybe I should have her over for dinner.

Oh. Weird.
Yes, well, I became aware that the Hurleyville Challenger was this week when I returned from NY on Tuesday. But I work nearly every day from 10-5, so this kind of puts a damper on visiting it It's not much of a field, so I'm not crying. And, after the move, I'm also not a 5-minute walk away anymore.
I have off Sunday, so my friend and I are considering going to the final. If Varvara makes it I'll definitely try to check her out.

Yay, Hurley is back! and might go! I do expect Varvara to make the final. But it's too bad you are no longer living so close to Hurleyville's grand $50K stadium. Brinyi, thanks for the cool Megan update. I like her. I wonder how much of a try she is going to give the circuit, or if she's just having some post-graduate fun for the summer?
