Gaston won the exhibition and the Peugot 206 that came as a prize for winning this. This came from Melu who runs the yahoo group and I will post it here. Gaston won the Copa Argentina (exh - hard outdoors), after defeating David Nalbandian 4-6, 6-4 & 6-2. Gaston started to play the first set far from being focused while David was not making many mistakes. During the second set, things started to change and Gaston could balance more David's game. The third was very weird because all we could expect from David didn't work and the same went for Gaudio. Gaston became a bit more agressive with his backhand and dropshots and that was it. He still needs to work on his foot faults! During the press conference a journalist asked him what will he do with the peugeot. Gaston answered with his trademark look "I will drive it" (only the "duh" was missing, it was a priceless moment).

Gaudio I like that blue shirt but it'll be better without that white and black/dark blue stripe

Gaudio I like that blue shirt but it'll be better without that white and black/dark blue stripe I actually quite like the shirt, the way it is and I would wear it. I just hope for him that he remains aggressive when he is playing on hardcourts. I mean Costa and Mantilla were able to have some good results on the surface and I don't see why Gaston shouldn't. Here is a pic of Mariano during the recent Tandil tournament.

IMO, it's the confidence thing again. He has to believe he can do some damage on hardcourts first, then he will be more aggressive. Thanks ;D

Considering overconfidence isn't one of his traits, it won't be easy. The thing is I have seen him play some very good matches on the surface, and he really needs to serve well and use the pace of the other player to his advantage among other things.

It's great that Gaston won! Poor David though. I'm sure he will be ok.
I like the blue shirt and matching socks!!

It's good that there are some people actually recognising this, but as I said to joeb I just hope he can use this win as a confidence booster to play well on hardcourts and jazz_girl is very sweet as well. I love this picture.

I think it will take more than winning an exhibition to boost his confidence. He doesn't usually win in these exhibitions at all, but he can play on the surface, so even winning 3 matches in a row on a hardcourt is something he hasn't done in ages.

Hi everybody here! Well this is my very first post here but I'm sure some of you already know me from somewhere else. And I must say that I've had the good surprise to see my translation of the TM of september 04 on page 5. You forgot to mention where it was from George... As for Gaston having won the Copa, it's a good thing. Not only does it give him more self-confidence on hard, as it's not the surface which suits him much. But the fact of winning 3 matches in a row on that surface was simply the best outcome we could be waiting for since he won RG. Apart from Bastaad, Stuttgart and Kitzbuhel, which were on clay, he hasn't got further than the 2nd round in every single tournament since RG. Plus now he'll have a beautiful Peugeot 206 to drive... ;D

Why is it a surprise? Well first because I'm new here and because I don't know who I will meet... And second because I know you under the name of Lee, not Five Golden Rings". But after reading much on the different threads, I know now that we are several to come from the MTF.

This board is a lot better and isn't run by fools, plus this is the only place where I post reports from tournaments, and the ones the other posters write are even more enjoyable.

Most of the posters here also post or used to post in MTF. I think you figure out who's Mr. Scrooge already? Well I had noticed that there were current and former posters from the MTF. Considering that I've spent much time reading the chat threads...I can figure out who most of them are I can say. Why should I have already figured out who Mr. Scrooge was? Why him in particular? ....Well of course I have! Remember, I've read the chats, the HO HO HO and all the rest... ;)And as I've been mentioned inthere several times without even having registered here, I must say it has been rather annoying at first. I think you know precisely what I'm refering to...

this is the only place where I post reports from tournaments. I had noticed that too. I've read your reports of the AO 04. So now I know where I'll be able to read them. Btw, I've seen you have mentioned me in the chat threads here. Should I feel honoured?

I wouldn't know it wasn't negative at all, it was a counterbalance to the thread that posted my annoyances about women, and you did the same for the guys.

It's just that it's some kind of a weird situation when you come to a place for the very first time and you read sthg about you. It's kind of a perplex feeling. That's what I've tried to express in my last question about me being honoured. I'm aware it might have sounded sarcastic but it was not.
