Despite two falls in his final skate, Canadian Jeffrey Buttle has earned a silver medal at the World Figure Skating Championships in Moscow. Switzerland's Stephane Lambiel took the gold. Canada last won a world men's medal in 2000 in Nice, France, when Elvis Stojko won silver.

Hey, I never said that I wanted to bone Jeffy. I'm just happy that he won.

Congrats Jeffery and Lambiel. To me this year's Championships have been very very dissapointing. All those injuries. The weird score system ruined the game so much, especially the ice-dance.

I like the scoring system That said, the mens competition sucked. And yes, it sucked because Plush pulled out. There, I said it ;D I love Lambiel, but he was flat in his freeskate. Still, he came out of left field to win. I mean, there wasn't any doubt that he was talented enough to contend for a medal, but seeing as he was out almost all season, then sort of blew at Euros, came to the worlds with a new LP... wow. Regardless, it became clear to me how important it is to have a great like Plush to push people... like Brian IMO, Plush brings out the best in Brian, even if Brian isn't usually good enough to beat him. That was never so clear to me as it was at Worlds this year. And I love Jeffy and all, but that has to be the weakest silver-medal performance I've seen in some time. He can do better than that. Go Jeff ;D

I say the scoring sys is weird, because it's a mess in defining the diference grade of actions. It's said if you tried a quad and fell down on ice, you can still get the score as high as a perfect 3+2. And if you creat some new action which nobody has ever done, it won't get you additional score, on the contrary, it may cost you some points. I disagree. On Grand Prix Final Plushy skated perfectly and Joubert skated like a disaster. On Worlds Plushy pulled out and Joubert still skated like a disaster. About French GP, Plushy's not there, Joubert skated a disaster SP and a perfect FS. So it's Joubert's own problem.

And if you creat some new action which nobody has ever done, it won't get you additional score, on the contrary, it may cost you some points. I agree that the system has it's flaws, but it makes way more sense to me than the 6.0 system. At least it's very clear to me how the marks break down. I don't have a problem if somebody gets positive points for attempting the quad, if the rotate it but fall down... because they did go for it *shrug* Under the old system, I don't know if Buttle would have placed as high as he did with those two falls. However, since the rest of his program is so wonderful, I'm glad to see that he's getting the marks for that. (that said, if Brian had managed to stay upright and Weir and Plush hadn't been injured, Buttle wouldn't have been on the podium). I also like that somebody can be in 6th after the short and still, in theory, win. I didn't like ordinals at all. Accumulating points just makes way more sense to me. Brian always flops the GPF. And is always mediocre during the early GPs. Even the one that he won this year he was far from perfect in. I dunno why, he just does. IMO, Plush pulling out put way more pressure on him. And I do believe that in general, Plush makes Brian strive to be better *shrug* It's not the ONLY factors on Brian's performances, but I believe it plays a role. Brian is having serious problems with the French Federation these days. It's been a bad year for him. That was more than likely bigger than the "Plush" factor, but he said himself that maybe he would have skated better knowing Plush was there. I can find the quote if you'd like.

Red Alert! I checked ESPN's TV Listings and apparently they are showing "Grand Prix Final: Beijing" on Sept. 12 (Monday) on ESPN from 9 pm to midnight. Not sure what the hell that means, as the event isn't being held until November. Maybe they're replaying last year's? I hope so, especially because I never saw it and I think Buttle won this one, yeah? I've missed having figure skating on my telly, so this is quite delightful!

No.
But I'm happy she retired because now we won't have to get her on TV in the US when there are skaters with actual talent to be seen.

Anybody watching the Grand Prix this year, since it leads up to the Winter Olympics?
I'm glad the Russian pair won the Paris GP over the Chinese, even though their lifts were..."cautious".

LOL I know this tv show very well and you may know it too if you get TV5 Monde. He didn't chose the outfit, it's the show which gives it to the guests/participants. Hard concept. They are at Fort Boyard in the Vendée (name of the show : Fort Boyard) ...Several personnalities and they make some tasks to get keys etc... and then the funds go to charities... LOL i suck at explaining. But well, the point is, he definitely didn't chose to wear this horror (if you notice, the other people around him wear a similar outfif...). fort-boyard.france2.fr/ ;D It's a weird show but the point is actually to see celebs in those ridiculous uniforms do ridiculous things... That's why it worked and is still on air after sooooo long ( i think it's 15 or something) i guess! A few extracts to get the idea : www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCVsowoPo9cwww.youtube.com/watch?v=ffp2TerpCHYwww.youtube.com/watch?v=N48y6NsboXcI'd like to make my excuses to the world for the invention of this stupid show... And apparently there's a UK version as well and their outfits are even uglier it that was possible, oh God... www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJXvCC9bmpw But it seems the contestants aren't clebrities in their version...

I went to Skate America in Reading, PA! It rocked. Saw Daisuke Takahashi, Patrick Chan, Caroline Zhang (best.ever.), Miki Ando, Kimmie Meissner, Belbin/Agosto, Davis/White, Pang/Tong, etc.
Everyone was friendly except for Evan Lysacek. Total diva. Stick up his ass cuz he's not that great and judges don't like him as much as the Japanese, Lambiel, Joubert, and Buttle.
Caroline is incroyable!!!

Did we know this?: Joubert has been considered somewhat of a heartthrob in his native country, France. This reputation has been contributed to by Joubert's short relationship with former Miss France, Lætitia Bléger. He later brought a lawsuit against Bléger for 40,000 Euros for insinuating that he was homosexual and that their relationship was arranged to hide this. Bléger and two magazines that published her allegations were ordered by a French court to pay a total of 17,000 Euros, and to publish the court ruling in one of the two magazines.

Yes. I used to spend far too many times scrolling messageboards looking for half naked photos of him. I learned a lot of things that I really didn't need to know back then. The entire thing screamed of a publicity stunt for her. Either after or before this, she took her clothes off for the cameras and was stripped of her title. She might just be an opportunistic ho. But yeah, I suppose that it's possible that he likes boys.

Joubert is in position to take home another home title. Tomorrow, I think. But he might lose. Evan America is in second and Patrick Canada is in third. Jeffrey Canada retired and I'm still sad about that.

I hope Evan America falls like 99 times. Gay Brian FTW!
OMG the Olympics are soon! And by soon I mean like in 10 months. And it's the crappy Olympics. But that's okay!
And they're in CANADIA! I was considering going but tickets for things are waaaaaaaay too expensive. I'll save up for London '12.

Evan America was good. I didn't find live stream in time to see Patrick Canada. Sexy Frenchmen faceplanted. Really. He faceplanted, right near the end. It was one of the most pitiful looking falls I've ever seen in figure skating. He was lucky to scrape by with the bronze.

At this point, I wish the Czech guy had trumped him, because I feel like this is the 19th time he's finished fourth.
Nice job, French Choker. If it wasn't for his AMAZING ASS, I'd be so out.
