They showed this bowl thing on BBC2, which was sort of funny because they don't have commercials on the BBC, so every time I looked at it there were just people standing round on a pitch talking to each other. That, essentially, seems to be 90% of what American football is. Glad you enjoyed the game Willow.

They show this football thing on ESPN7, and all the players are just standing there waiting for another meaningless pass that leads to a scoring chance every 199 minutes. That, essentially, seems to be 100% of what Inferior Nation's football is.

Yes. I have 8 ESPN channels. 3 are "alternates", though.

That, essentially, seems to be 100% of what Inferior Nation's football is. The worst part of modern football isn't the inactivity. There's a lot of running around and fight for possesion. The problem is the way modern football has become a total crapshoot. There are so few chances to score that it's quite feasible for a team to play ugly defence + generous doses of stalling but still win if they're lucky enough to convert on one or a couple of those few chances. In tennis, it's rare for someone to play the best tennis yet lose (though in the men's game it happens more often, due to the all-importance of the BP conversion rate). In football, it happens all the time.

So, Brett Clemens shockingly decides to return. I did not see that coming. I'm sure he is very upset with all the attention he's getting.
This with the Willies' bullshit. I don't think I'm ever turning my television on again.

Nice Uber Bowl. Well, nice fourth quarter. Except for the last 15 seconds.

American football is the worst sport I have ever watched. I tried watching that, but fucking hell.

Regular games aren't so slowly paced as the Super Bowl. It's hard to watch with constant commercials and delays.

I watched this thing once. It went like this: they run for 5 seconds and they stop, so they run for another 5 seconds and then stop and then something happens and I don't understand what happened, so I gave up.
And before Americans get offended, I don't think the game the rest of the world calls football is much better.

Trying to catch up with arcane rules during a game is impossible, and it goes both ways.
Usually, you like what you grow up seeing, and that's just that.

Ravens-Redskins on TV!
I must be getting old, because I'm really looking forward to regular season. Another turning-into-my-father nail in the coffin.

I'm always looking forward to the start of the season for the 3454 sports and 2343 television shows that I follow. This has nothing to do with age, but much to do with lazy.

Yeah, September is gonna be goooooooooood. Not only football, but "Top Chef" and "Project Runway" are starting again (now that PR is on Lifetime, they're going to be on at the same time ), as well as "Survivor" and "Mad Men." And the USO I think is still going to be televised, of course. AND for the first time in one year, I will have income.

It's really time for Redskins fans to let go of the hope that Jason Campbell is going to be their savior. Never gonna happen.

I think it was The Boiled Egg that once described American Football as grown men running around in pajamas. Ever since then, every time I see an image of a football player, I can't help but smile.
Sorry, thread.
