Got Centre Court tix and have just left after having seen Roger THUMP Koubek in three...YAY! He made hard work of the first set...a little nervous being back on Centre...and he was rushing his first serves....but when he settled down, he played somelovely tennis...the Roger we know! Looked soooo sweet and so pleased to have won,,,the crowd really appreciated his tennis too.......thats all from me as we leave tonight.Lets hope Rogi can continue Wimby as he has started it....GOOOOOO ROGER!!!!!!

Sue so good to hear that you had a great time!! To bad you already have to go now. But thanks for the sort and quick updates!! Geee Roger did shock me too when he was 5:2 behind in the first. Just as well he must have steped up his game to an other gear as he won pretty convincing at the end. And for once didn't mess around with the mps Well done Roger!! Now good luck in the next round!! Go and ask Michel how you have to play this Fish guy!!

I dont even care that Pandy won cause we got to see Rogi. Some of Rogi and Guga (who I knew wouldnt win so i'm v glad they showed him) Rogi looked so beautiful on Centre Ct. He looked like he really belonged there. (unlike last year ) BUT he has to stop falling! He fell twice! It looks so scary. Didnt he also fall at RG? Stop falling Rogi! He has to play on Centre Ct again. The only way to see him. Or maybe Ct. 1. And it helps if he plays first. Fish now. ugh! Prepare for him Rogi! Its interesting to know that Brad Gilbert thinks theres too much hype about Rogi. Funny cause theres NO hype on Rogi. They never talk about him, never show any of his matches. Think he's just jealous cause he knows how good Rogi is and he doesnt have him. And he knows if Pandy played Rogi in the semi's, Rogi w win. Yeah RF, Rafa won! ;D Now he plays Paradorn. I think Rafa will win cause i dont see how Paradorn can recover that quickly from such a long match. And then if he does win and has to play Pandy, we'll see him! Go Rafa! And Go Juanqui today!

I agree w Lily re Rafa winning... if he does, let's hope he absolutely rams Pand, that's IF Pand d Robredo -- about time for a Pandy upset, I think... Tommy has NEVER d him so now's as good a time as any!! VAMOS!! I love the SPaniards getting thru to 3rd... who says they can't play on grass? Yuk the comments re them -- these yukkies can't say anything positive about them can they... I'm really hating this tourney for coverage... GROSS! nothing as gross as Pand tho... and GREG< you SUCK! pssst what does bfn mean?? it means BYE FOR NOW! Doris: what does Pandy say here?? Artikel vom 26. Juni 2003 / Quelle: Blick Schattenmänner Roddick immer besser... Keep rolling!!

Wimbledon: Andy Roddick against Gred Rusedski - the service showdown on centercourt, desided by a spectator.
239,8 km that fast both have already served - shared worldrecord. Yesterday they both reached only 222 better 214 km. BBC messured that there are only 0.5 seconds left to react for the return.
After two breakless sets a spectator desided the match between the giants. At 5:2 for Rusedske he cried in the mittle of the ball exchange "out" - the left hander wasn't able to play a ball properly after that. He lost 18 of the last 23 points and the match 7:6 7:6 7:5 - Rusedski is again in the shadow of favored Tim Henmann.
Also Roddick is a shadowman - couse superman Agassi stands infront of the sun. And he never got passed the third round so far. But the winner from Queens and possible semifinal opponent from Roger Federer warns. "I've never felt so good on gras like now"

Federer Fries Fish © AELTC / ProSport Friday, June 27, 2003 Not so easy this time: Switzerland's Roger Federer has reached the fourth round of Wimbledon, but a mid-match wobble cost him his first set of the tournament. The fourth seed defeated the talented young American Mardy Fish 6-3, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 in a match interrupted by two rain delays. He now faces Spain's Feliciano Lopez for a place in the quarter-finals. Federer looked to be in complete control in the first two sets against a player who was expected to trouble him, dominating on his serve and showing the silky skills that have made him one of the world's best in the last two years. But the second rain delay halted his momentum and gave Fish an opportunity to re-group. He broke late in the set and held on to take it 6-4. The crowd, sensing the potential for an upset given Federer's disposition to unexpected defeats, increased their support for Fish. But Federer seemed able to to re-focus, cut down his errors and take the fourth set comfortably. Federer has long been tipped for greatness at Wimbledon, having captured the Boys' Singles title in 1998 and defeated Pete Sampras on his way to the quarter-finals in 2001. Federer fit to become a master of his art By Paul Hayward (Filed: 28/06/2003) Telegraph Three games into his ordeal against the sumptuously talented Roger Federer yesterday, Mardy Fish developed the look of a man who knew he was going to be oven-baked and served with a chunk of lemon in his mouth. Sometimes instinct tells you to make bold announcements about sport, so here is one: Federer is comfortably the most naturally gifted member of the new wave. We are talking about the early twentysomethings who are chipping away at old Mr Vegas, Andre Agassi. Andy Roddick impresses with his all-American vigour and Lleyton Hewitt, the fallen champion, will doubtless hustle his way back to prominence. Floundering against Federer: Mardy Fish lost in four sets But if it's loose-limbed artistry and soft hands you want then punt on Federer to become the next Pete Sampras. He is the antidote to the modern obsession with scale and muscularity. Not a single chair in the Royal Box was occupied when Federer strode on to Centre Court to face a promising young American who sounds as if he should be cruising through a Martin Amis novel. A throng of us sat in the gathering gloom, thrilled by the sense that Federer is capable of elevating men's grasscourt tennis above the monotony of artillery bombardments. The first point he won as the VIPs were still supping tea was from a soft, low volley - an angled cushioning of the ball rather than a shot, which is too short and hard a word to convey the subtlety of the act. The thing about talent is that it has to be properly applied for it to leave a mark in history. It has to stamp on everyone else's head. More than that, to be as good as Federer and not exploit that ability in the biggest tournaments is to invite ridicule, or even contempt. At the weekend the former Wimbledon champion, Pat Cash, called Federer's record in the four Grand Slam events "appalling" and warned: "He has to win a big one soon or he could end up vying with the likes of current performers Mark Philippoussis and Marcelo Rios or, going back a bit further, Henri Leconte, as the most gifted player never to win a Grand Slam title." Cash knows better than most, but Federer's passport says he is only 21. In classic Aussie fashion, Cash is chewing the Swiss prodigy's tail and here is why: Federer reached the quarter-finals at both Wimbledon and Roland Garros two years ago but has not advanced beyond the fourth round in any major since. Two summers back he pushed Sampras closer to Wimbledon retirement with a landmark win. Yet three first-round exits litter his recent Grand Slam CV. The four trophies he has raised so far this season are lumps of shrapnel compared to the kind of silverware his admirers expect him to take home. Expectation has been a constant of his career since he left home at 14 to join a Swiss tennis school. On court, he is hyper-relaxed, imperturbable. He hangs loose. So it might just be that the segment of his brain which registers urgency is not as highly developed as his radiant array of shots. His Wimbledon wobble yesterday was to surrender the third set. Great players know how good they are. They start from that base of high self-esteem. But they also concentrate. Relentlessly. With Hewitt out, and Sampras lost to a golf course in Beverly Hills, this is the summer to find out whether Federer is one for the connoisseur or the bigtrophy engraver. Certainly, in his presence, excitement steers the pen across the page. As he snatched the first two sets 6-3, 6-1 yesterday, his return of serve was exemplary; his volleying beautifully delicate. His own serve is devious without being a thunderbolt from the gods. One first-set ace drew an "oh" or an "ugh" from Fish. Had he gone on with the sentence, he would have said: "This is ridiculous . . ." After the first break of serve, his body deflated into a court-side chair. The imaginary bubble caption read: "I see. It's going to be one of those days." The comedy name should not mislead you. Fish came to Wimbledon with the best world ranking of his career (45) after reaching the final at Nottingham, where he lost to Greg Rusedski. Like Federer, Fish is only 21. Broiled in the first set, and deep-fried in the second between rain breaks, he was probably desperate to be back in his tank. But just after seven the rain stopped, and Federer's standard dropped damagingly as Fish fought back with a break of serve to take the third set 6-4. "Remind you of someone? A guy who won this tournament seven times?" asked John McEnroe in the BBC commentary box before Fish extended the contest into the twilight zone. Federer buckled again with two match points at 5-1 in the fourth. With night closing in though, he reasserted his supremacy with an ace to take the match 6-3, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 and a fourth-round tie against Feliciano Lopez. "Sampras, we miss you" a Centre Court banner lamented. We do, but less so now that the Swiss have come up with a new big cheese. Sampras won 14 Grand Slam titles. Federer is still chasing his first. The gulf is between achievement and potential. But the bet is struck, the claim is on the record. Federer is the one to make men's tennis seem a thing of beauty. Fish...broiled, deep-fried, desperate to be back in his tank. JohnnyMac and BBC
