The way Rogi plays tennis, he's more like a sushi chef preparing the delicate food than just smashing a fish into fishcake ;D But I'm not referring to Rogi's skill, I'm talking about the ingredients. Sushi are made of very high quality, extremely fresh and tasty fish, it's delicacy. While some fish are only deserved to be made into fishcake. ;D

Well said, Lee and Vera! AND... enjoyed that astutely written article, Lily! I have always loved the English way of writing and envied their subtle phrasings even more! sumptuously talented Roger Federer loose-limbed artistry and soft hands He is the antidote to the modern obsession with scale and muscularity. Federer is capable of elevating men's grasscourt tennis above the monotony of artillery bombardments radiant array of shots Certainly, in his presence, excitement steers the pen across the page. his return of serve was exemplary; his volleying beautifully delicate His own serve is devious without being a thunderbolt from the gods. "Sampras, we miss you" a Centre Court banner lamented. We do, but less so now that the Swiss have come up with a new big cheese. Sampras won 14 Grand Slam titles. Federer is still chasing his first. The gulf is between achievement and potential. But the bet is struck, the claim is on the record. Federer is the one to make men's tennis seem a thing of beauty. Refreshing to read an article that is properly penned!!

Lily really great article
And Roger well done by beating Fish - still you should have done it in 3 (and no all the hurring was almost for nothing as there was raindelais and they showed Chanda and then there was LA meeting in Oslo....)
Oh well got to see a handfull of games (maybe 2 or 3??)
Just wish me luck that I will be able to see him tomorrow afternoon when I don't have to work for once. But I fear ARD and DSF will focus on Popp and Schüttler. Pleas Swiss TV do something about it!!
Oh well Roger watch out tomorrow. It's court 2 again against a dangerous spanish leftie who hasn't dropped a set yet!!
Alllleezzzzz Roger!!!

So Doris, what do the Swiss papers say about ROgi's match vs. Feli?? I can't find anything in the Spanish papers about what Feli says about Rogi... Artikel vom 30. Juni 2003 / Quelle: Blick Wimbledon 2003 Alles Roger! Sogar John McEnroe ist wegen Federer «freudig erregt» – Aber Achtung: Der heutige Gegner Lopez ist kein Sandhase VON CÉCILE KLOTZBACH AUS ENGLAND Bild vergrössern Roger Federer (Welt-Nr. 5) ist heute... FOTOS: KEYSTONE Bild vergrössern ...gegen Feliciano Lopez Favorit.

We had coverage of Poo-v-Agassi, but they went over to Rogi's match in the first to say he was having back problems and had called for the trainer! I was going crazy! Then they showed a bit of him lying on court on a towel and having his lower back massaged (!)...when the umpire asked him how bad it was, he said * Very bad* Apparently he had treatment between games a few more times and then appeared to loosen up a bit again towards the end of the match. No more news yet.Maybe its nothing serious and he was a bit tense from waiting round all that time? GOOOOO ROGER!!!!!!!

I sure hope Rogi's OK! This could be his chance this year and we want him to be healthy... maybe was the rain and cold and delay... pls pls!! If there's a God... Looking at his stats tho he played a very gritty match considering el guapo Feli played well... I thought for sure Feli w take ad of our innocent little Rogi and take the 3rd set but Rogi fought and hung in to win... he's done v well so far... being tougher and mentally stronger... overcoming all sorts: 1st rd nerves, centre ct nerves, court 2 jitters, players he's never faced before and beating them!! woo hoo, well done, well done, well done [to quote Greg!!]!! take care of your booboos baby!

This is from CNN: No. 4 Roger Federer hurt his back warming up, required treatment in the first set but still beat Feliciano Lopez 7-6 (5), 6-4, 6-4. "It was very tough for me," Federer said. "I don't know how I won." Get well soon Rogi, title is waiting for you !

ROGI!! ... Roger Federer Swiss fourth seed Roger Federer had to overcome a potentially serious back injury in his match against Spain's Feliciano Lopez. The 21-year-old completed a straight sets 7-6 (7/5) 6-4 6-4 win. But the result masked the difficulty Federer had in disposing an opponent bidding to become his country's first quarter-finalist at Wimbledon for 31 years. The Swiss had to come from a break down in each of the first and third sets as his faltering service action gave Lopez hope. And Federer also had to contend with a back injury, which may jeopardise his future in the tournament. "I just couldn't move anymore so I had to call the trainer and hope for a wonder," he said afterwards. "I was always under a lot of pain." Federer now faces Sjeng Schalken for a place in the semi-finals, after the Dutchman dispatched Rainer Schuettler , of Germany, 7-5 6-4 7-5. ... source news.bbc.co.uk/

Monday June 30, 07:44 PM Back injury threatens Fed express LONDON (AFP) - Swiss fourth seed Roger Federer admitted that his Wimbledon title dream could be derailed by a back injury. The 21-year-old marched into the quarter-finals with a 7-6 (7/5), 6-4, 6-4 win over Spain's Feliciano Lopez to equal his previous best performance at Wimbledon. But he had to struggle past a back problem which struck in the warm up and which hampered his mobility throughout a painful afternoon. "It happened in the warm up. I just couldn't move any more, I had to call the trainer," said the star from Basel, who now faces the Netherlands' Sjeng Schalken for a place in the semi-finals. Eighth seed Schalken beat German ninth seed Rainer Schuettler 7-5, 6-4, 7-5 to book his passage. Federer was at a loss to explain how he had survived so long as he played through the pain barrier. "It was very tough for me. I feel it now. I don't know how I won today," he conceded. "It was totally blocked, it was always a lot of pain. As the match went on it got a little better. I tried to forget it. "I didn't think I'd sit here today as a winner. I have to take this lucky match today and try to get rid of this and get ready for the quarters. "It's a great opportunity - but I'm a litle bit exhausted," said the Swiss, who has been earmarked as a future champion ever since 2001, when he dismissed Pete Sampras in the fourth round, ending the American's 31-match winning streak at the All England Club. This season, Federer has won matches on all surfaces and came here after lifting the grasscourt title at Halle, Germany. source uk.sports.yahoo.comouahhh

Damn, Rogi in pain Its amazing that he could play and win in straights. I was so nervous about this match and then to see he had to play in pain. Hopefully he'll be better by Wed and maybe we'll see him. If he can continue I hope we get a Pandy/Rogi semi. Then we'll def get to see him. Seeing Rogi on his back there w the trainer reminds me of when Guga was having back probs during the Masters Cup in 2000 and he had to wear a back brace in the final v AA. That turned out to be a happy ending. Lets hope the same for Rogi. Mark Poor Cliffy, he sounds sooooo bored during Pandy's matches. I know he's waiting til they can show a Rogi match.
