I'm fully expecting the worst with this slam, and I know I will get it. I stopped making "worst case scenario" predictions because they always fell way short of just how awful things turned out to be in reality. The rankings of the top 20 will be so fucked up after this that the English Open will be the wackiest in decades.

Cibulkova turned the match around after being down something like 0-4 in the first. Now up 4-0 in the second.

Highly anticipated Huck-RDLR match is underway! I suppose the "crowd" has to be rooting for Huck here. I just hope they're doing it gently!

I keep hoping someone will post the seeded QFs here, like in the men's thread, because I'm too lazy to look at the draw, and I only know from wtaworld that it's very "top-heavy", and I know about the Serena-JH qf. Meanwhile, Rossana's on fire! She has fought back to 1-3 now.

Les huitièmes de finale théoriques : Henin – Li Safina – S. Wow, thanks, guys. Vous êtes trop gentils. I'm tired of all the top players. Why should they keep winning everything? So I'm going to root for only Italians this year, both ladies and gentlemen. Forza!

Ha, but she's a top player no matter what she's ranked. Like Agassi, who won the US Open when he was unseeded.
There are some brief but interesting match reports from yesterday on wtaworld. I was excited to read this bit:
Arn vs. Akgul Amanmuradova Akgul basically dominated this match with her serves and powerful groundstrokes, while Arn tried hard to keep up with her pace. Throughout the match, Akgul moved into the net which really was key to finishing off her points.
So our Akgul is a net-rusher! I had no idea. A giant net-rusher! Can you imagine how huge her reach is?

CAKE V CARAVANE FIRST ROUNDER Y'ALL - I hope Caravane wins and flips off the French media again (isn't she actually banned from the Roland Garros site, except for her actual matches?! Well, we'll see what she's made of: a Serena type would win all her matches out of pure malice at this point) Jankovic will probably succumb to fatigue in...the third round. Stupid girl. Wow, Muller seeded. It's been said before but this never loses its ability to shock. Rumour from the World is that she's pulled out though (hence suspicion that the GREAT ARN's loss to Akgul was a tank, there now being 3 LL spots open and it only being Saturday, plenty of time for another 10 or so to drop out).

Ha, I'd forgotten about Aravane being banned from the grounds. But I think the non-banned part counts for the whole RG tournament, not just during her matches. I mean she's got to do her PC's and use the lockerroom, I'd think. But who knows. Her Dad should be banned even during her matches.

Wow, Muller seeded. It's been said before but this never loses its ability to shock. Arvidsson was seeded for RG last year as well. She got Lucky Ivanovic. Szavay got Kremer, Amanmuradova may get Vaidisova 2R. There's been some talk about the funny matchups at RG, but nobody noticed NLV vs Smashnova. Smallest average height of the Open era?

Aravane isn't banned from the ground at all. Only her stupid father is. And actually the media likes her a lot! LOL

Could Akgul play any other way with her size? Well, Bovina didn't play much net, but that's because of her Big Bird approach style... I can't get over Garbin being seeded 19.

Yes. She said she's retiring after Wimbledon. Personally, I wouldn't want to go out 1 & 0 to some bashing bimbo on grass in the 1st round.
Anna should remember the good times. End her career in a Tier IV.

I'm rooting for one of the following to win:
A. Mauresmo (will never happen, but we can dream) M. Sharapova (read above) P. Schnyder (Rooting for her above all other players - which means she loses 1R)
Pironkova will lose 7-6, 6-0 to Silliams. The rain delay killed it.

I gather you're surmising women's tennis weak with Garbin in the top 20. I am concerned about Sharapova's unreloiable 2007 second serve in the windy conditions of 2007 Roland Garros.

I can't believe Myskina is really playing ... Amelie does not have an easy draw, and if she could lose to Medina Garrigues, anything might happen. But she'll probably wind up beating Granville. Loit d. Sharapova happened once, but can never again, methinks. But wouldn't it be nice ... Schnyder does have a good draw ... watch her fuck it up! JH-Paszek may be a match we look back on in a few years ...
