Besides, you have to understand that when people say that Federer is intelligent that they're comparing him to the other athletes that we hear sound bites from. The fact that he can put together complete sentences in one language, let alone several, makes him stand out from many of the athletes that we have to suffer through over here in North American.

Jankovic said that she doesn't know much about her because she was still young when Gibson was playing. I do think it's a bit strange that they don't know who she is, but then again most people are horribly uninformed about everything.

If Gibson is not well known outside the sates and I've heard of her and I've been following tennis for 6 years, someonewho is world number 1 should also know.

That is what makes the lack of awareness seem like an oddity at best.

I don't care for Vera. Kerber put forth a pretty good effort against Serena, from what I saw (and that was only the first set and three games of the second). I think she has a non-Challenger future.
