Pablo Cuevas attempts to win a Grand Slam doubles title.
And... wheelchair tennis is completed already. Boo. I want an Esther Vergeer/Jiske Griffoen rematch. Jiske is cute.

Also, Baby Anci comes marginally closer to justifying her new rank.

That will never happen.
Safina wins RG. Penis wins Wimbledon. Serena wins US Open. None of them finish the year in the top 5. C'mon!

I'm really nervous that Dinara will fall at the last hurdle. I don't care about CASNO.

I'd be happy with an Ana win, but I'm hoping Safina wins today. That would be cooler. Ana will win a Slam eventually, anyway.
Also, rumors doing the rounds that Justine will be presenting the winner the trophy.

Edna, will Ana winning make her the first Serbian woman to win a Slam since Monica? That's what news stories said about her #1 ranking - but didn't Monica play under the Yugoslav flag? Just confused. Excuse my ignorance.

Yes, Moni played for Yugoslavia before becoming a US citizen. But her family was "ethnically Hungarian", as we heard over and over, and tney spoke Hungarian among themselves.
I suddenly realized yesterday that I want Dinara to win. I agree with Ali that Ana is going to be winning Slams no matter what, but maybe this is Dinara's one chance. Take it to her, kid!

Edna, will Ana winning make her the first Serbian woman to win a Slam since Monica? That's what news stories said about her #1 ranking - but didn't Monica play under the Yugoslav flag? Just confused. Excuse my ignorance. Basically. Mima Jausovec won RG sometime in the 70s under the Yugoslav flag, but she's Slovenian. There's actually been some discussion here about whether Monica should be counted as Serbian player or not. The thing is that she was born in Serbia but only represented Yugoslavia and USA and of course we know she left the country when she was still a kid, so... Sometimes she's counted as a Serbian player, sometimes not. More often not. I remember a heated discussion last year when some liberal journalist suggested that Monica not being counted as Serbian is a sign of Serbian nationalism, because she's ethnic Hungarian and so Serbs don't see her as one of their own and blah. I actually think exactly the opposite, claiming her would be a nationalistic act, because I don't think she's ever defined herself as a Serbian player. So, as far as I'm concerned, Ana is the first Serbian #1.

Someone remind me why I'm staying in on a glorious Saturday afternoon to watch a women's French Open final?

Someone remind me why I'm staying in on a glorious Saturday afternoon to watch a women's French Open final? To see tennis history be made. Either Ana Ivanovic wins her first grand slam singles title and the first for Serbian women's tennis or Dinara Safina wins her first grand slam singles title and makes history by becoming with her borther Marat Safin the only sister and brother combination in tennis history to win grand slam singles titles.

The last women's final to go three sets? 2001. The last women's final with more than 10 games in a set? 2002. I'm guessing we're due?

Awesome play from Dinara, pushing Baby Anci Gurl back from the baseline with some crunching shots. 4-1 to 4-4!

Dinara did well to get to 4-4, but what was with those first two backhands in the ninth game?

No loud grunts! Amazing. The yelps of "Ajde!" are worse. Not quite worse, imo. Anyway her grunts are getting a little louder as the match goes on; still nothing compared to the famous grunters and shriekers. I love that Dinara is just plain silent!
