Marina isn't a hopeless player.
Face it, Janie. Brie is for real.

But Marina is unranked, isn't she? So Brie still has more to prove! Not much more, but a little more.

Marina's only previous match was a straight-set loss to Whitney Jones.

Brie also played Whitney once, and lost 06 16. Whitney sure has luck with her draws!

Whitney Jones wins tennis matches. Marina won game(s) off of her. Thus, far too good for our Brie.

They were both former players, or something. Obviously, they've done quite well for themselves to INVEST their earnings on Brie.

Brie's intransigence regarding signing up for only high-level ITFs may finally pay off next week: she's 6th alt. at a 50K in France.

How is it determined that she's 6th alternate?
Our Brie Brie has spent the last 3 months preparing for this moment.

How is it determined that she's 6th alternate? Actually, she was 6th on the alt. list, but you're right, the order of the alts. would have been determined on site according to the new system. But there were only 8 alts. listed, 4 of them with no national ranking, so Brie had a very good chance to play. But apparently she didn't show up -- all but 2 players in qualies have r1 Byes. Her first choice for the following week is, of course, the Petange 75K+H, and she chose not to enter the 10Ks on offer that week (at least not the ones I checked), including one right here in the US. It's pretty clear by now that, unlike other bagel girls, Brie doesn't actually want to play tennis. I think what she loves is calling herself a professional tennis player and diligently signing up for several events every single week. When no MD WCs are forthcoming, she's happy to pull out and try again the next week. She prefers inhabiting a fantasyland similar to Alexandra Stevenson's but on a more modest level; I imagine all she yearns for is to get back to her glory days in the top 700, which the new structure of both ITFs and WTA events will never allow to happen. The WTA in particular does not want spectators at their events to ever have to witness a Diamond Jackson vs. Brie embarrassment again till the end of time.

It costs money to enter events, even if you don't play. Ah, the perks of being filthy rich. I can't express how jealous I am of Brie.

It would be a lot more fun if you had Brie's money instead of Brie! She's just wasting it, whereas you'd actually show up and play some of these events. I'm sure you could even be the Player Representative better than Brie ever did it.

Oh, I'd play every week and travel the world as much as I could. And I'd probably win games since I can serve and somewhat volley. Well, before I got old.

Nancy was the perfect bagel girl. I'm not sure what her ambitions were, but she made it into the WTA ranks just for the sake of it. And, she beat Karen Fodera in a WTA tourney. Brie is way too young and also tries too hard, judging by those short video clips. Nancy tried too, but there was never any doubt that she would always suck. Brie, by her youthful appearance gets people think she could still improve when that's not the case.

I watched Nancy play. She also tried very hard, got upset at herself often and seriously thought she could win. She was really, really bad. Like watching super senior 80-year olds. How she won a WTA level match is appalling and frightening. Nobody thinks Brie could improve to the level of having tennis be a career for her. Maybe her parents do... but, I doubt they could be this delusional and profligate for this long. Besides, there's thousands of girls like Brie. The difference is that 99.9% of them suck in a few local tournaments, and go play in college or whatever for years. And Brie is really cute.

Actually she probably held her serve at love. One thing is sure, at 2-0, Nancy won a game at love.
I have 2 pictures of that match, but they are very bad. While sorting my pictures, I realized I still have a picture of Chole wearing socks in sandals.
