So what happens to Safina/Mak. now? Of course the playbook would decree a tight 2nd set going to Safina following one or more major Mak. chokes, then Safina runs away in the third 61 or 62. But then there are all those sub-rules to worry about. The Safin(a) Complex is explained on Page 62, in which you find out that you just never know with a Safin(a) on the court. But I predict that Makarova will win this second set.

Brianti looks a bit like Justine in face, at least from some angles, and she's just played a couple of Henin-esque points to break BAG.

Of course! The old "you just never know" Exception.
Still, the match is on track for the more usual story development as well.
I'm enjoying Nav tonight. I'd still rather watch a tennis match with Bud Collins by my side, because he loves the Niculescues of this world, but Nav's not bad.
Edit: this refers to Hurley's earlier post!

Petrova - the 2008 Australian Open runner-up. You know it's going to happen. X. Williams vs. Petrova was about 1000 times more likely and would be about 1000 times worse than Corswandt's worst-case scenario.

And she hit a TOTALLY Justine-like BH CC in this game. It's actually a very good shot for her when she has enough time to set it up well.
Ana may turn the crowd against her if she keeps celebrating the opponent's errors like that. She fistpumped and ajded at Brianti's unsuccessful dropshot that didn't cross the net, you don't see that too often.

Original Safin takes the court! Earmark p. 62! So will we be hearing stories about their poor mother, who I believe is named Oracenova, having to dash back and forth between courts to support both crazy offspring equally?

She could slap a child in the middle of RLA, then say that she's very exciting to have slapped the child in front of such a great crowd, and all would be forgiven. She can do no wrong

She could slap a child in the middle of RLA, then say that she's very exciting to have slapped the child in front of such a great crowd, and all would be forgiven. Heh, Ivanovic's gerunds. Makarova is really not bad at all! Tuned in at the start of the second set so have no idea what went on in the first, but she's got a great lefty FH, good movement, pretty good BH, goes for her shots and makes a fair few, a serve which isn't pathetic. But Stupid Safina is also playing really well herself, and most of the time Makarova juuuuuust can't keep up. Second set had some good rallies, third set is a Safina steamroll so far. Voskoboeva's results since switching to KAZ have shown a marked improvement...started with the Quebec QF at the end of last year.
