<< O'Brien struggled to find her rhythm against an opponent she described as "probably the most unorthodox player on the women's tour". She never quite got to grips with the athletic Niculescu's sliced forehands, powder-puff second serve and general unpredictability. >>

Dechy crushing Sugiyama...Now-Old Nath deserves a couple breaks after her Wimbledon heartbreaker.

Nav: "I think I just heard the F-word." Numerous set points for Makarova, and she takes it on the 2nd. Clearly she hasn't read the women's tennis playbook! Winning a set 7-6 after serving for it at (IIRC) 5-2 and 5-4 is rule 1(b) of the playbook. Rule 1(a) is losing the set 6-7 after serving for it at 5-2 and 5-4. Rule 1 is losing the set 5-7 after serving for it at 5-2 and 5-4.

No, because she's just not a good enough player. Though I'll concede she's the best of the many Mayr's on the Tour. Tennis Channel returns to the Nipples on Alert (hereafter, NOA) match.

So what happens to Safina/Mak. now? Of course the playbook would decree a tight 2nd set going to Safina following one or more major Mak. chokes, then Safina runs away in the third 61 or 62. But then there are all those sub-rules to worry about.
