Safina is back to the pre-Berlin version of herself. These errors are gross.
I'm starting to have doubts about Jelena winning a Slam too. I mean, I'm always pessimistic about everything but after the USO and indoor season last year I really thought she was getting there. Now I don't know. The weaknesses in her game are not going away and I'm not sure her team knows what they're doing. This bulking up thing looks totally unnecessary now.

Safina is going to be #1 in a month or so, like Ana was last year (unless Serena wins this and plays more than Miami). So, yeah.

This third set...Dinara's errors are hilarious. The pick was probably that drive volley which went in the opposite direction to where the court was.

Cornet's played some incredible defense, though, as well as some creative shotmaking. She's a tough little madam and I love her feistiness.
Obviously, she failed to serve it out.

Goodness. Served for it twice, to no avail. That will hurt. It will. She was literally 1 cm away from winning this match. I don't think it was an all-out choke though, it's that Safina relaxed when she was down and almost out, and her firepower is just too much for Cornet to handle.

Hi, I am tennislurker, I don't remember how I was called here. well, new account. wooh
I want to kill this chick Cornet. I was planning on watching one set of Fed vs Birdshit just to see if the match was competitive and go to bed to wake up early for Baghdatis vs Djokovic.
Why couldn't she serve for match? Now I am going to bed. Fed vs Berdych better be a boring, ordinary, easy victory for Fed, if Berdych wins or if it goes to five sets I will want to kill myself tomorrow.
Where is Sharapova by the way? Did she just start to suck, is she injured? Here (Argentina) they only show women tennis during the slams and as filler between men matches (I don't complain)
I liked the spanish chick who defeated Venus and Kleibanova (spelling?) she has the forehand of a man. But most girls are awful, I can't believe that long faced chick whose name I can't recall is the number 1. I don't want to see Dokic ever again.
Meh, I am almost hoping Serena wins. Or Petrova.

Safina just won. I hope the Fed match starts soon

Bartoli now officially back at French #1.
Safina a win away from passing Jankovic in the rankings... :red:

Cornet was sobbing her heart out in her seat afterwards.
Agree with Edna - it didn't feel like a choke, Safina just made a real effort to clean up her game after she went down 2-5. Started aiming well inside the court and was prepared to rally. Cornet just couldn't hurt her in any way.
Now, Bepa and Nadejda. Do I really want to stay up and torture myself with this.

Tough loss for Cornet. That one is gonna hurt because she'll be lucky to ever get a chance like that in a slam again.
When Safina is focused, her passive with occasional winner attempts style dominates women's tennis. This is why she "comes back" like she does.

But really, what happened to Sharapova? Is she injured? Did she start losing to everybody like Myskina? Well, kind of both. She lost to Alla Kudryavtseva at Wimbledon and didn't play a match since. Apparently she had played with an injury for months and it was misdiagnosed, so things got really bad. She's expected to come back in February, we'll see. Yes. Although them sucking as much as she did in those last few months of their careers wouldn't have made that much of a difference.
