Indeed. I ranted on Roger's jerkness with the challenges early in the week. Pleasantly surprised with this match so far.

Berdych is having one of those crazy good matches he's capable of. He needs to end this as soon as possible, once his level drops at all, he's fuxxed.

I assume that was the Berdych fuck up we've all been waiting for. Nice shot on BP.

Berdych shouldn't go anywhere near the net The botched volleys were bad enough, but the overhead to lose serve. Ugh. FUCK! We're going to a 4th set. Shit, I didn't realize till I got into the match how badly I wanted Berdych to win.

Roger is the worst "challenger" in the game. He's always wrong. I don't know why he even bothers.
He got lucky today. Berdych made some bad errors in that third set. However, by the fifth set, Roger had really rounded into form. That last set was impressive from him. He'll need to show up playing like that against Del Potro - if the Federer of the first three sets shows up, that could be an upset.
I don't think Cornet choked. She baaaarely missed that forehand down the line. If she makes that, it's over. Other than that (and it was a hard shot), Safina just calmed down, refocused, and stopped making retarded errors all over the place. And then totally shit all over her performance and Cornet's game talking with Shriver and Carillo, lol.
Jankovic lost. Duh. The only bad thing is that it's allowed Bartoli another deep run in a Slam. Surely it's Vera's time, though, right?
It's hard to see anyone not named Serena, Elena or Dinara winning this. But it's really hard to pick between those three right now.

She really shouldn't have dropped serve in that last game. Kleybanova to serve for the set at 5-4.

To the point others made earlier, Kleybanova's ability to hit decent, hard shots, while on the dead run, is quite odd, given her size.

Boy, is this match still going on? Novak must be PISSED.
Well, fuck you, Berdych.
Okay, Bepa into another Slam QF, FINALLY. As someone above said, who the hell knows what's going to happen with the Waterworks Twins playing each other...but the H2H looks promising. I can't complain about a CAKE resurgence, though!

Dokic vs Goo is great. They're so evenly matched. Just when one of them looks like pulling ahead, the other pegs her back. And most of the games are going to 30 or deuce. I still have no idea who'll win. It's hard to see anyone not named Serena, Elena or Dinara winning this. But it's really hard to pick between those three right now. I can envisage Demented losing to Cibulkova in the next round, and if Safina blows like she did yesterday, anyone left would beat her. The signs are not good!

WOW! Why couldn't I get up earlier today! Dokic in the QUARTERS of a SLAM, are you kidding me? I'm guessing she might pull out of that Aussie 25K she's entered in, because Jelena Dokic has left the Hidden World in one fell swoop this week! Amazing, amazing.

OK, so.
Bepa beats Cake and gets our foolish hopes up. Safina blows against Dokic. Bepa against Dokic under the lights, with this crowd? The mother of all meltdowns will ensue. And in the final, Dokic wins three games against Silliams.

Post by Traveling Man on Jan 25, 2009 7:12:10 GMT -5
Dokic is not going to win her QF. There's the rolled ankle and she'll be exhausted after this, not to mention all the three setters she's had to play. It's bound to catch up to her. Safina is in a different league and is Top 3. She'll probably beat Dokic 6-2, 6-1 or something. It doesn't matter though. Just getting to the QF is an achievement in itself for Jelena at this point.
Kleybanova was almost as bad as Ivanovic with the screaming and fist pumping.

Dokic was out there three hours?? Yeah, she's toast. Too bad, but I can't get over how she got back her game so quickly after putzing around in low-level challengers last year, only winning a couple of them. No one can say this AO has had no surprises!
Okay the announcers here have switched from JOKEovich to JOCKovich, after asking ND himself. So few male athletes have a jock itch right in their name! ;D

Hi, I am tennislurker, I don't remember how I was called here. well, new account. wooh I want to kill this chick Cornet. I was planning on watching one set of Fed vs Birdshit just to see if the match was competitive and go to bed to wake up early for Baghdatis vs Djokovic. Why couldn't she serve for match? Now I am going to bed. Fed vs Berdych better be a boring, ordinary, easy victory for Fed, if Berdych wins or if it goes to five sets I will want to kill myself tomorrow. Where is Sharapova by the way? Did she just start to suck, is she injured? Here (Argentina) they only show women tennis during the slams and as filler between men matches (I don't complain) I liked the spanish chick who defeated Venus and Kleibanova (spelling?) she has the forehand of a man. But most girls are awful, I can't believe that long faced chick whose name I can't recall is the number 1. I don't want to see Dokic ever again. Meh, I am almost hoping Serena wins. Or Petrova. ** Safina just won. I hope the Fed match starts soon Woohoo, tennislurker is back! What a treat! Yeah, Sharapova had shoulder surgery, but only after months of trying to get away with just rehab for some kind of tear. So it's taking her a while to get back.
