I only care for this
Monfils (12) vs. Simon (6)
Murray (4) vs. Verdasco (14)
I would care for Gonzo vs Rafa but Gonzo can only be extremely tired after his 5setter against Gasquet

I want to see Monfils/Simon and Cibulkova/Dementieva. Expect the others to be routine, except CSN/AMG (which will be an 'upset' but boring, as it involves AMG) and Sweta/Zheng (which will be an upset but ugly, as it involves Sweta).
SexyDomi will beat Demented.

Your return may even get me to pay some attention to the men's event. So far I've only seen Fed's matches, FFWD through all the rest save for the odd TB. vs Berdych Fed was looking too much like an all serve goon with no game. Worrying. SexyDomi will beat Demented. I'm not so sure now. Lena D. was intermittently brilliant vs Stosur. Domi can't do brilliant. I know one's first thought after seeing Lena's 3R score was "LolZ she was taken to a TB by Stosur", but Lena D. may be playing herself into form (she was quite ordinary even in Sydney). Now to get back to some of the stuff that went on while I was going through the huge backlog of taped matches I collected since Friday.

How did Woz get blown out in the last 2 sets? Hard to imagine that. Good for Jelena. Like this: As for Wozniacki, she lost because she got WAY too passive. Her balls were bouncing in the service box and sitting up for Jelena to pound. Not a Dokic fan or hater, but really enjoying her run. Dokic's first career (assuming this is the beginning of the second) coincided with my hiatus, so this is all new and fresh to me. She's a great shotmaker who plays a spectacular game. No brainer as far as I'm concerned. The match vs Kleybanova was probably the best match I've seen since a couple of years ago. Goo may be the strangest player I've ever seen. She's a fat pig, hits nearly every shot off balance, but when she hits it, it's always solid, powerful contact. And has the amazing ability to track balls down with little movement and her love handles swinging. Kinda like Monica in the early comeback days. What impressed me the most in the Dokic match was Kleybanova's serve. She's not a flat out ace server, but for consistent quality she probably has few equals. Three hours of play, lots of deuces, yet there were next to no lapses: 1st serve always 170 km/h+, nearly always right on the line, 2nd serve almost always good. Even when Dokic was playing out of her mind, she still found it genuinely difficult to break Kleybanova. Ana is awful. I don't understand her, or her fans. Her game is fugly, and she is probably one of the most obnoxious active players on court. And she's not that cute. So, what's the catch? Why about 80% of my posts concern why I hate BAG so much: - dealt with gloating Ancitards for way too long; - bitter that I picked the wrong girl (Vaidisova), even though BAG didn't even figure as an option at the time; - trauma over BAG's bullshit RG 07, Wimbledon 07 and AO 08 runs, and winning countless matches she should have lost in general; - can't for the life of me understand why anyone would consider that replacing Sharapova by BAG as the Tour's "banner player" would be an improvement. But really, what happened to Sharapova? Is she injured? Did she start losing to everybody like Myskina? Well, kind of both. She lost to Alla Kudryavtseva at Wimbledon and didn't play a match since. She later won a match in Canada against Domachowska. She was hitting the ball superbly (both players finished the match with positive winner to UE ratios), but the despondent look on her face in the 3rd when she realized the injury was serious... Wow I missed some amazing matches with Federer and Dokic's great wins. But I needed the sleep. I saw Safina's comeback win and her puzzling interview on ESPN2 afterward dogging Cornet essentially saying she can't play at all. Ridiculous. Her brother Marat never did that. And Safina's unforced errors in the thrid set were hard to believe. Cornet has a powerless game for the most part but her defense is outstanding. So she can't hit like a guy, big deal. Did the pro Dokic Aussie crowd play a big role in Kleibanova's loss to Dokic? This doesn't read like a Cat post. At all.

Umm...not to overstate the obvious but Dokic is and was the typical basher. Except even on her good days she never looked like a slam winner. Why do you love her so

I remain indifferent to Dokic, but the Aussies claiming her one of their own is getting tiresome. It's like Rusedski at Wimbledon. It's sad to be that desperate for patriotism. I also miss her tits.

ESPN deportes lied and they are showing Medina vs Suarez instead of the Simon match.
I like how Suarez Navarro plays, very similar to Sabatini. (Frana is commentating and compared her to Sabatini)
Perhaps finally they will get another good player like Arantxa and Conchita.
With that face she won't get many perv fans, though

What issue, being ugly? Feeling the pressure of being the new great spanish player?
Carla needs some time to hit her topspin one handed backhand, so, quite often she is forced to slice the ball back, Medina took advantage of that and managed to get 3 bp's, but Carla saved them all playing good tennis and won the game.
She just looks better than Medina. And yes, Medina didn't show a winning attitude when she had those opportunities to break Aarla.

What issue, being ugly? Feeling the pressure of being the new great spanish player? Being ugly, yes. She'd feel that even if she was an ordinary young woman, let alone a top pro athlete in a high profile sport where looks are so often scrutinized. Medina is only a handful of ranking points away from the top 20. Scary.

I don't think Medina is capable of playing non-chickenshit topspin junk.
Monfils still frustrates me. He plays with zero aggression, and habitually uses chips and floating slices and stuff for no reason.

The French match will be a long one a la Clement-Grosjean. Not if Monfils' current attitude persists. Also, why is he hitting softer than Simon?

Medina made twice the same mistake, hitting a down the line backhand very late, the shot went very wide both times. And Carla went from facing BP to AD
Now they finally switched to Monfils and Simon

Yes, with that username I imagined it was you.
BTW, if I remember correctly, Steffi Graf used to think that Medina would be a super great player, multiple slams winner, the future of tennis. I remember reading that in an interview to Agassi, they asked him whom he thought would be the next great female player, and he said, my wife thinks it will be Medina.

Gael, no more slices. Please. Even I hit them better.
Agassi said that Bjorn Phau was the fastest player ever and will be a star. Maybe they're a family of trolls.
