10 deuces, and ED's brain is frying in the heat, judging by the decision to play that dropshot.

Oh, well. I should be glad to see all this life in Carla, after her corpse-like start.
But she came back from a terrible start to beat Venus, and I really don't want to see that happen again. Please, ED.

Finally Dementieva wins the game.
But it looks like the second set could be a dogfight.
Now carla is used to the pace.

I think that carla is not used to play against the top players. She has been playing her whole like to crappy mooballing spanish players, so she needs to some time to get used to the ball coming so fast.
In the future that may change.

Carla is a good matchup for Elena. Carla's main strength is hard topspin on both sides that troubles short players, and Pee's hideous FH.

Being up 6-2, 5-1 is really impressive considering that CSN hasn't played badly, and Demented has had a couple of blips. She won all the potentially match-turning multi-deuce games. Like a CHAMPION!

I'm almost rooting for Serena here unless Sveta plays well for once AND continues to do so in the following rounds.
CSN should have broken at least once, would have made her feel better I guess. Too bad.

If she wants to keep beating Penis, she can stay unretired. Okay, she serves a purpose. It's just that wanted all the matches to go to three sets so that Bepa can face a tired opponent in the final. However, a Kuznetsova d. S. Williams 6-0 6-0 victory would be more than satisfactory. Let's make it happen, Sweata.

Sweta hands break back on a DF Now there's a surprise! This is exactly why I've decided not to watch this match. How many times do I have to watch Sveta self-destruct? Serena has had enough breaks this tournament -- Azarenka had food-poisoning! -- and I don't want to watch her win against a feeble-minded Sweater.
