Sorry guys but lolol at your tennis expertise. Since when is Venus a shoo-in to win ANY match at Roland Garros, let alone against a rock-solid (if she's not slumping) player like Szavay? Just an assumption based on the almost limitless tendency of other players to choke against the top dogs. Not to mention, when you really, really want some result, you assume you won't get it! Of course. With Venus, you are indeed better off to expect nothing and then get positively surprised when she blows.

I predicted Venus would lose before the 4R! Admittedly I thought she'd lose to Safarova, who'd lose to Vesnina, but only because of the Szavay Szlump.

Apropos of nothing, I note that SimO_Ona Halep is starting to gain attention outside of tennis circles.

Credit to Venus: lovely smile and handshake at the net. I mean...she's going to probably say something stupid in the PC, but, yes, on court, she's okay (at least in recent years).

I've switched to Wawrinka on tennis-channel.tv/tennis. Nothing against Dinara but I think I know the outcome there.

Remind me again why anyone thinks Pavlyuchenkova will be a top player?

Ha, I just watched a clip of Bratty Barbie's "handshake" with Rezai. Sullenly stuck her hand out for the briefest of moments and the crowd rained boos down on her. If she's going to be playing with the big girls she's got to grow out of her Junior ways.

Nick B. is too soft on his star pupils, lets them get away with murder. He even admitted in his book that he let the young Kournikova cut in line, take and do whatever she wanted, etc. He could also stop all this shrieking early in these children's careers if he wanted to.
I've decided to seek out players that NEVER PUMP THEIR STUPID FISTS, especially not AFTER EVERY SINGLE F*ING POINT, and root for them no matter what their game is like.

But, we root for CAKE. She is the worst offender. She does it after 2nd serves, changeovers, warmup... and against scrubs like Parmentier.

6-1 to Shvedova, who came back from 0-40 as she was serving for the set

Was it a bad match from Venus or good play from Agnes? Wish I could have seen this match, but was at work.
Either way, good to see Szavay getting over that awful slump of the past year and a half during the clay season.

This Shrieky match is weird. Shvedova has won every important point. Mostly from horrid Shrieky errors, but still.

Maria needs to keep donating games with errors. And keep trying drop shots, she's so bad at them. Shvedova is unquestionably prettier than her, too.

Didn't see the last two sets. Playbook, I guess.
Shriek's been taken to three in all of her matches so far. Surely, surely Li will beat her.

Not really playbook. Maria was horrible in the 1st set, and Shvedova doesn't have the game to compete with her.
If Lee Na plays 2 solid sets against Maria, she'll definitely win. But, I'm not betting on that.

Yeah, Venus is a grownup. She's more than okay; she's amazing -- at least when she spoke up in her Dubai trophy speech about the missing Peer. Can't picture many of the top players going out on that limb while accepting cash from the hands of the ones at fault, but that's one advantage of having some players older than 22 on the Tour. Of course Serena's pretty old now, too, but as Leena pointed out, Serena just gets more and more childish as she ages.

never mind, I just looked at the clock. Guess they'll be halting this one now.

Many of them mention that the majority will accept De Screamo's bansheeism once she's a respected player. And they're right. Again, this is why I hate people. Seles was ridiculous. Sharapova is ridiculous. MCLDB is even more ridiculous. At some point, will anyone realize that needless screaming is an embarrassment to tennis?
True. Although, she comes across just as arrogant and with unwarranted self-importance as her sister. She just knows not to stir up shit. It also helps that Vee has the public speaking skills of a grammar school student, thus she wants to get out of interviews ASAP.

Sharapova is ridiculous. MCLDB is even more ridiculous. At some point, will anyone realize that needless screaming is an embarrassment to tennis? We could apply this to countless male players as well, with Jimmy Connors leading the way, but its always the women who get picked on. I may be biased but with Monica it was grunting - Maria & the Sistahz shriek. Regardless, they're all making noise. It can get annoying, but I honestly don't mind it. I can understand Rezai complaining about MLDB's whatever-you-want-to-call-it. What I didn't understand was Tauziat and Navratilova complaining about Monica at Wimbledon '92 considering they had already played her a number of times before without a peep - THAT was sour grapes. But, there's a case to be made for masking the sound of the ball being hit, etc. Which reminds me of Dechy dissing Clijsters after defeating her when Kim complained of an ear infection. Random. It comes down to personal preferences. I loved Hingis' cheeky smirks and racquet chucking, though many found that to be boorish and obnoxious. Even moreso, I enjoyed watching Monica play WITH the grunt, but find the Sistahz's shrieks to be over the top. Bias? Preference? Maybe.

Connors and McEnroe did get loud sometimes, but the females are worse because of the high pitch.
Seles wasn't consistent with her grunting, especially early in her career. I've watched some of her matches in US scrub events on YouTube and she wasn't bad. Then slams, UGGGHHHAAAAA. Maybe it's because of the echo in large stadiums, but whatever. If it affects other players in any way, then I feel they have a right to complain. I don't know if there's rules about it, but if I was facing De Screamo, I'd randomly scream when she's about to hit the ball if there isn't any.
Screaming during tennis matches should not be forced to be a personal preference. If it's affecting the popularity of tennis, then force these girls to shut up. I've told the story before where my mother would force me to change the channel during Seles matches. People that don't know tennis probably look at these screaming wenches like they're insane. I understand why players grunt, but there's absolutely no need for them to do it so loud.

Bahaha. Oh, Denise.
As long as the Sistahz play doubles, the idiots will have some reason to complain.
Opposite half of the draw: BAD SCHEDULING! Same half of the draw: DRAW IS FIXED! RAYCISM~!

Great gutcheck wins for Sharapova and Szavay today. It's good to see Agnes back in good form because her game was so promising a couple years ago.
