Don't choke, Dinara!

I didn't expect to be nervous for this, since I like both players and can be happy for whoever wins. But I'm nervous for Dinara who wants this so badly. I don't think she's going to be fine with just being a finalist here; I think she'll be pretty devastated. So, PLEASE WIN!!! Preferably without too much choking from either side.
Loud cursing's okay, though. ;D

John McEnroe doesn't realize Stuttgart was an INDOOR clay tournament this year; I wish someone would point that out to him but I guess the others don't know it, either. John's talking about the similar heavy conditions in Stuttgart, where Kuzzy won, to today in Paris, thinking back to Hamburg days.

Easy break for Safina to start; Kuzzy all over the place.

Now Dinara's turn to throw wild serves in all over the plays. Break back. Horrendous choke-a-thon to start!

Sveta settling down, starting to dictate now on this wet court.

Okay, Kuz holds at LOVE. She had Dinara running around 15 ft behind the baseline. Dinara has to settle down and take over because Kuzzy's not looking nervous any more. Dinara still pretty wild-eyed, trying to get a grip on herself.

Wow. Dinara missing everything now. SK one game away who would have thought! This is going to be over in a minute unless Safina composes herself...

At first I thought she would, but some weird nervy moments in her SF made me worry she might be too keyed up for this final. Which she sure turned out to be.
The one good thing about the final is that it ended quickly.

Did SK even yelp or look excited when she won?

I watched the beginning of the second set, switched channel, then when I switched back Kuz was giving an interview. K.

Did SK even yelp or look excited when she won? No, but it did end on a double fault, so that would have been tough to pull off without looking like an asshole.

Myskina-Dementieva part II. Fitting. Ah, yes. Glad the announcers didn't bring that up. Of course, Rog's performance in last year's final was pretty dismal, too. I sure hope he's not going to let me down like that tomorrow. Best women's match I saw was Azscream vs Dinara. Too bad that today Dinara couldn't summon even a shadow of the player she brought for that bout.

People forgave Roger's performance last year because Nadal crushed everybody else, too. Not that this made it okay.
Sucks for Safina, but I like the Kuz, so meh. All is well. It's nice to see her back up her USO title.

Kuznetsova must've had a private moment of joy when Justine retired.
We're so used to Kuznetsova being the 4th round-quarters-semis, sometimes final loser that this is hard to absorb right now. 4 and 1/2 years after that US Open ... she did it. And she deserves it - she did beat Serena and Safina.
I'm not sure what this means for the rest of the season. I'm certainly not expecting Sveta to win another major this year. Will Dinara completely crumble? Possibly. Or maybe she'll come back strong. Hard to say.
Venus and Serena will win Wimbledon and the US Open? Quite probable.
I think of the French Open as the time for the second tier of the WTA to win. Venus and Serena won't, so it gives the others a chance. It's hard to see Sveta as a winner of the other three.
