Like I said, it was worse last year. 60 points = 120 now. Points are generally double for slams now, but not the rest of the tournaments. So, it's roughly the same. Okay. Wait. The points last year were 2/60/90, which come off this year after doubling as 4/120/180. Compare to this year: 5/100/160. Not "roughly the same." SUBSTANTIALLY better. Get it?

After missing her second MP, Hradecka didn't win another point, except for an Ivanovic double fault.

How is Ma. jose a cheater? I think I missed an anecdote. Silliams hit her but the ball bounced off her forearm for a winner, and MJMS refused to admit it hit her body and was awarded the point. Babygurl made some threatening remarks of how she'd see her in the locker room and that she'd better not approach the net again. And, the World was up in arms and MJMS joined the list of cheaters!

Why does everyone always cheat against Ree

Right, only Baltacha/A-Bond on TV. Don't care, going to pub.

Why does everyone always cheat against Ree Because she "makes people's careers", which also explains why they "try their best" against her and Vee, as opposed to only 46.437% against any other player.

I get that. But, the other tournaments have been weakened. Biggest example, the Premier tournaments, the equivalent of Tier IIs, only got about a 60% boost in points (300 points for winning one last year, 470 now). So, 120 points is worth more now than 60 points last year.
Not that it matters. My main complaint is why players get significantly MORE points for winning your 1st match than your 2nd. It's like rewarding a player for getting a good draw. Fuck the heck.

Although...okay, I don't think we're complaining about the same thing. Yes, 100 points for a 1R win is still too many, even though it was 120 for the last couple of years (relative to this ranking system). But at least the disparity between points for a 1R win and points for a 2R win is more reasonable. Last year (after conversion to this ranking system) you got 118 points for a 1R win and 60 for a 2R win. This year it's now 95 and 60. It's not much better, but it's a step in the right direction.

So, we are complaining about the same thing. I agree, I'm just pointing out that that relationship is actually much better this year, if you compare the points.

The relationship is better, so yes. Although, qualies are far more fucked up. Really, I want to know who thought 1/40/50/60 was a brilliant idea.
What aggravates me more: (14) Safin, (18) Schuettler. So, not only are they benefitting from the ATP's braindead slam ranking systems where points from 2008 are 20% HIGHER than 2009 for no discernable reason, but Wimbledon doubles it.
Really, I want to meet the people that think "Hey, so the best way to rank players is to base it on the results from the longest possible time period ago! Give me millions of dollars for my genius!" I hate this tournament.
I need a blog so I can bitch to myself about these things. Assburgers!

If I am not mistaken, DGT blew a 4-1 lead trying to close out Dent and lost the set. He still leads 2 sets to 1, but he has the night to stew about it. That is the kind of thing that tends to bite one in the assburger.

Q. What goals do you set for yourself now? Do you think you can get back to the top of the tennis game again?
JUAN CARLOS FERRERO: Yeah, I hope so. I have no points to defend until December. I'll try to finish in the top ten again for sure. :red:

Clement dies a harsh death this year. He'll lose points. I think Del Potro may be up for a run here. No idea how much he likes grass, but he's set up with a good draw. We'll know by what he does against busted Hewitt. Good win for JCF. Hewitt d. Ginepri. Over for Robbie? W for Santoro. I thought he was retiring at some point. Maybe he's going to play another ten years. Pablo Cuervas? Is that a liquor? Lots of retirements on the men's side today ... 7-5 6-3 against LDL on grass is not an impressive Dinara scoreline. Great. Date got a set from Wozniacki. At least it died there. Mauresmo ... losing a set to Czink doesn't fill me with confidence. Hradecka should've beaten Ivanovic. Ana got a bit lucky to get out of that one. Domachowska couldn't put away AMG, which sucks. Wins for Peng and Li. I can't even imagine the horror of Pennetta vs. Nuria. Hurloey was right about Malek d. Dokic! Niculescu manages one game off Shvedova? What? CSN d. Kanepi. If only she could win matches outside the Grand Slams too. Vaidisova losing to De Los Rios is easily her worst defeat of this slump. That is just incredibly bad and now the wheels will fall off her ranking. Nice win for King over Koryttseva. Flipkens! Kirsten should have a nice game for grass. I feel bad for Mattek-Sands. She's gotten some poor Slam draws this year. Akiko did not beat Sveta, and I'm disappointed. Douche d. Cornet. Very good. Oh my God, Kirilenko won a match. Oudin is just seventeen. That's a nice win over Bammer, especially when you consider how she plays. Sybille is uber-consistent, so to beat her you need to hit winners. Well done for her. Chak out to Lisicki. No shock there. Gee, Vera almost did lose to Stoop.

I watched most of Del Porto's match, and it wasn't much of a sign of how well he can move on grass. Clement served atrociously, was in the 30s with the 1st serve most of the match, and thus little defense had to be played.
Deadisova massive tank to Bremond was worse than this. Well, she drops down to the 140 range now. Let's hope the drop to Bumpkinette land kicks her ass in gear or her career could be done. Depressing we have to think like this with such a talent...

The way DP plays, fast courts can favor him. But we'll see. Hewitt should be a good barometer of where he's at. Vaidisova may be done, plain and simple. Given that she's tanking Tour matches, I can't really see her getting too motivated to play Challengers again. And yes, it's terribly depressing. She really does have all the talent in the world. The will appears to be what is absent.
