Q. Were you surprised by her intensity? She struggled a bit with the injuries and after every game she was not sure how she'll go. FRANCESCA SCHIAVONE: I don't know about her injury. After this running, running, running, I don't know. I don't think that she is injured. I believe in Kim because she is very correct. But if you are injured, really injured, you can't run so much. Me, too, I have some problem to my knee, but is not big problem to say, "Please, Press, I have problem." "I think, you know, that's because she's lost … I'm happy to show you my MRIs if I have to." -- K. Clijsters Yes! Yes! Show the MRIs! Full disclosure!

btw, people at wtaworld who saw the Hingie match say that after a great first set, Hingie turned all passive in the 2nd set, looked tired, lots of UEs. That is NOT going to do the job against Kim Cripple. I fear a lopsided loss.

I can't resist posting this one:
"As for their demeanour, perhaps the most damning observation was that Hrbaty was the charismatic one. (Davydenko was narrowly beaten into third place by the net post.)"

Martina isn't beating Kim.

No, I think everyone knows that Martina cannot beat Kim. But I hope she gets a few chances to make Kim run side to side. Then all the world will see how "injured" Kim is. btw, I wonder if Kim is now rueing all her injury talk & those "possible withdraw" announcements before her 1st three matches last week. Hope she's learned her lesson and will keep all this baloney to herself in future. Like Franny.

Martina only played badly on her own service games, in the second set. And she still won.

I still think Tina has a chance with how Kim is playing. Kim isn't unbeatable.
Fran moves up the favorites list!

Martina only played badly on her own service games, in the second set. And she still won. Well she will have to play better in her 2nd set service games against the top players. But the great thing is, she will be the definite underdog against #2 (soon #1) Kim; she is not expected to win, so I'm hoping she'll be psyched and eager the whole time instead of nervous/defensive in that match. I'm sure she wants to measure again how she stacks up against an elite player -- and also, if she does sense that Kim's movement is hampered in any way (which it sure doesn't sound like it is, despite her protests), Hingie will know how to exploit that. Which I know she would dearly love to do, because she's a player who's Got the Devil in Her Heart.

I was disagreeing with the notion that she choked or something. It got tight because she played badly, rather than the opposite. She just lost a bit of focus. She won't neccessarily do that against Kim. Although Kim is still the favourite.

My prediction is 1-6 7-5 6-2 for Kim. Tina has to get my hopes up.

So maybe she stay be more focussed against a tougher foe. The way Justine does.

Martina played a lot worse in the second set. Her magic shots were going in in the first and they weren't dropping the same way in the second. But I remember that used to happen to her even when she was dominating (e.g. the 1997 USO final). She takes her foot off the gas and that's what kills her (e.g. the 1999 FO final). Some things never change Anyway if Kim has good health she will roll Martina, but if Tina can just get her moving and maybe have her tweak something...

We're overrating Kim. Tina managed to beat her in 2002 when she was not confident and hated tennis. I think Kim is about as good as she was then. Despite being #1 now, I think Kim of today is worse than 2003-04 Kim.
Tina can break down Kim's ugly forehand. And Kim isn't moving great. I doubt she can overpower Tina. Tina can win. Fight, Tighty Buns.

Nice serving in the second set Martina. LOL. Also great aggressive play from the baseline. LOLOL. Looks like the choking Martina is back. Oh well. She, uh, won the match.

That is NOT going to do the job against Kim Cripple. I fear a lopsided loss. I don't think another outcome would be possible even if she played very well. Martina got a "catwalk" draw ande made the QF and this boosts her ranking immensely. But Kim is the first credible opponent she'll get and I can't see her prevailing and nor should she. Give it a few months, maybe then.

Just saying that she choked. That was exactly the type of play that cost her the AO final 2002. Have a huge lead, wait for errors, lose. Only difference: Jen sucks less than Sam.
