Day 13.

Post by janie on Sept 12, 2009 12:47:08 GMT -5
"Monday: Men's final: 4pm, Your Local CBS Secondary Station." What does that mean, "Local CBS Secondary Station"? Most local CBS affiliates will choose to show their local news, etc... at 5-6pm, and thus they'll drop tennis to their "sister" station. Usually one that shows sitcom repeats all day, or something. This happened last year to most of the US. Now, if CBS would have the final at night, this wouldn't be a problem. But, oh no, we can't dare pre-empt "Two and a Half Men" repeats. Oh. Well, my sister has cable without too many channels. They come from places like Elmira and Buffalo, NY, and maybe Rochester. And I doubt they have a secondary option. But, oh well, I'll just have to wait and see. I still remember one of Jim Courier's RG finals being pre-empted by a Jerry Lewis telethon, with no advance warning and no secondary option available. And of course there were no livestreams then! Nowadays at least we can watch on our computers if we have to.

The main reason it bothers me is because the secondary stations won't show it in HD.

I haven't been able to watch the last two weeks hardly at all due to most of the tennis going on when I'm sleeping/working, so I must watching something, Burley! Watch Wozniacki/Wickmayer because they are up and coming while you've seen Serena and Clijsters play plenty of big grand slam matches.

Watch Wozniacki/Wickmayer because they are up and coming Up and coming, but coming up WHEN?? There is one tiny spot of rain on the radar, and it must be just sitting parked on that tennis center. Time for a bike ride! They might not play any more tennis today. It's crazy because with all the rain in 2003 the U.S. Open still finished on time. Maybe the U.S. Open should go back to green clay so they could still play tennis amidst a drizzle. ;D

Thus, why I'd never ever buy Ashe tickets.

The only real complaint I have, much like Armstrong used to get, is that it's too big. When USA used to go to the upper decks, you could see on television that the view was shit. Either you have Wimbledon, where you have lists, or the Open where seats are pretty much always available.
And the players hate it, but what do I care about that.

Kim Clijsters is the best women's tennis player to only win 1 grand slam singles title. That needs to change at this U.S. Open. Great first set from Clijsters. She really frustrated Serena. Can Kim keep it up is the question?
