JMDP has the kind of looks that get better and better with age. Just sayin'! Yeah... until that day comes, Alex can have him. Seriously. I mean...they can't get much worse.

Remember the last time that Fed lost a slam final? Congratulations to him for growing as a person and not crying this time.
In writing that, I feel like I'm just being childish, falling headfirst into the "go cry about it!" world of insults that generally only 12 year olds are found int. But no. That actually happened.

Look. It's the US Open, and therefore the last chance we get to be petty about something that actually matters. Wallow in it!

And DC, whatever. I'm Amurrcan, who cares 'bout that shit.

Cat - this is the tournament where somebody called Justine "Christine" in the trophy presentation. That is the exact moment at which point the USO should have ceased to exist. Of course, I'm quite glad that it didn't, or else this: First time Jacket lost a Grand Slam final to a player other than Nadal couldn't have happened. Again, I am thrilled to find that I had no idea what I was talking about. It's about time we had a new slam champion. Wow the things you and Leena remember. Impressive. I had forgotten about the Christine conctroversy. Thanks for the help. Now I remember. Was it Dick Enberg of CBS who referred to Justine as Christine? I think it was.

It's the Men's Final. The unofficial end of summer. Final Sunday w/ Week 1 or 2 of the NFL is probably the greatest sporting day of the year. Every final I vividly remember since I was 4. It doesn't matter who is playing, or what happens. And Del Portro is a threat. I doubt he does because it is a bad matchup, but it should be competitive. I'm seeing a situation here where we could get a similar ending to the 2000 U.S. Open men's final as far as who wins and loses goes. No one saw that result coming in 2000 and no one sees this result coming. But it looks like Del Potro could be ready to be the next great player in men's tennis. Well it wasn't quite a Safin beatdown of Sampras in the2000 U.S. Open final but it was a great win for Del Potro and men's tennis.

Roger only really blew in the final set. I thought the middle three were very high quality from both.
So impressed that Pony was fearless but not reckless - we remember all the huge winners, but he stayed in a bunch of key rallies with hard-hitting but safe neutral shots, and mostly was able to wait for the right moment to unload. And to get into the match after his hopeless start, and to withstand getting constantly broken back every time he made a breakthrough, and not to crumble after those two DFs to hand over the 3rd set...and you could see he was visibly affected by all the setbacks, but he didn't allow his negativity to have an impact on his play.
Amazing to think that he still hasn't won a Masters event! Murray has got to be pissed off about this. Hopefully that will spur him on.

Hopefully. Muzzaslam must avoid being a slightly better Henman and proving Burley correct. There's certainly a better comparison than Henman for a player that is very good but not great and never wins slams, but I'm lacking it at the moment.

So, I've watched all of it and it was a great match. Yeah, it was Fed-error near the end, but Del Pony won this with great play, no question. There shouldn't be any questions with his wins over Nadal and Fed, but there probably will be...
And, yes, Muzza should be pissed. Because he's gonna hear about it now that he better win a slam.
A comparison, to me at least, was Nalbandian. I thought the 03 USO loss would get him motivated. Well, it did, to peak in November every year and get really fat.

I have two worries regarding Pony's future.
-injuries, Big guys always get injured, Becker, Marat, Guga, Joachim J etc etc
- Sluts, Argentina is full of sluts, they will all jump over him now, I hope he doesn't lose focus because of that, like fat dave, who prefers cars, food and sluts over tennis.
