Slow day in the office. It's 2:15 and I'm starving, haven't have lunch yet cos there's a new copy machine sitting across the tiny lunch room where the microwave is at. Very high tech copier with millions new functions and took an hour to have the tech guru gone thru them with us. Anyway, there's still plenty of ppl surrounding the machine and blocking the microwave so I can't get there to heat the food up without having everyone move out of my way and try not to examine my food.

While waiting, did a rookie update:
1. Alexander Ovechkin Washington Capitals Drafted 1/1 in 2004 GP G A Pts 18 14 5 19 2. Sidney Crosby Pittsburgh Penguins Drafted 1/1 in 2005 GP G A Pts 19 7 14 21 3. Dion Phaneuf Calgary Flames Drafted 1/9 in 2003 GP G A Pts 20 5 8 13
Becca will have difficulty deciding who to cheer for for the Calder at the end of the season. Or is it always going to be Sidney?

Sid had a three point night against the Flyers... 2 goals, including the game winner, and an assist. He also lost part of his front teeth, thanks to Hatcher. His goals came after that

Flames on a 24 games losing streak ;D ;D Townsend Tigers extend streakThe Calgary Flames have put together a nice little eight game winning streak through the month of November. But the Townsend Tigers top that and then some. The wheelchair floor hockey team from Dr. Gordon Townsend School at the Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary, dumped the hometown heroes 9-7 Thursday to claim their 24th straight win over the Flames. "It's always fun to play the Townsend Tigers. It's something when we have a sign-up sheet for things throughout the year, it is packed and it is packed early. It goes to overflow. The guys really enjoy it. It's a good day," said Calgary captain Jarome Iginla, one of thirteen Flames to play in the annual game. The Flames roster also included Dion Phaneuf, Steve Montador, Jordan Leopold, Bryan Marchment, Stephane Yelle, Shean Donovan, Chris Simon, Matthew Lombardi, Chuck Kobasew, Andrew Ference, Robyn Regehr and Rhett Warrener and was one of the strongest teams the Flames had put together in years. But some terrific goaltending and timely scoring by the Tigers kept their streak alive. The Flames want to continue winning on the ice and extend their streak to nine games against Chicago on Friday at the Pengrowth Saddledome. "We have to keep these streaks separate, right?" grinned Iginla. The players signed autographs and visited children throughout the hospital. Iginla said the team enjoys the day and putting smiles on kids' faces. "It does help you to get your mind away from hockey," said Iginla. "You concentrate on hockey all year— games, practices, video. It's so nice to go out and see the smiling kids and talk about something other than hockey. They like to talk about hockey but it is always very positive. It's always good to go and hang out with smiling kids."

Although I was already pretty happy when Detroit made a trip to the West and collected it's first 3 road loss, courtesy of the Canucks, Flames and Oilers. ;D

And a little reversal of fortune when the Black Hawks came to the West and beat up the Albertans (is it what they are called?). We should see if they can finish their streak against the nucks next tue (hope not).

lmao @ today's game stat for the Canucks/Ducks game:
Shot on goal: Canucks 7, Ducks 13. No. of penalty: Canucks 16, Ducks 17
I'm getting annoyed by how easy one can get a penalty in this new NHL.

Well, that's the official stat from the ESPN/NHL website anyway. We know how accurate they are.
The penalty stat is quite correct, 16 and 17. Shot on goal is actually should be about 35 to 30 per team, at least that's what I saw.

The final scoresheet from nhl.com show 33 for Ducks and 29 for Canucks on shots on goal. That's more reasonable. I hate so many penalties, absolutely no rhythms for the matches.

Jiri Fischer had a seizure during the Nashville/Detriot game today. That was scary. Hope he gets well soon.
DETROIT (AP) -- Red Wings defenseman Jiri Fischer collapsed on the Detroit bench late in the first period of Monday night's game against the Nashville Predators and was hospitalized in stable condition.
The team announced that Fischer had a seizure and was doing fine. Red Wings coach Mike Babcock later said Fischer's heart had stopped and was restarted at the arena.
"They hooked up the auto defibrillator and shocked him," Babcock said.
Fischer was also given CPR at the bench by team physician Dr. Tony Colucci before the 25-year-old native of the Czech Republic was removed on a stretcher.
"He's been described as very jovial," said team spokesman John Hahn, who added that Fischer was visited by teammates. "He'll be here in the hospital the next two days undergoing some further testing."
The Red Wings said they would hold a news conference following practice Tuesday afternoon to update Fischer's condition.
Fischer logged 4 minutes, 52 seconds of playing time -- covering six shifts. He recorded one hit and was on the ice when Nashville's Greg Johnson scored the game's only goal. That occurred just 1:02 before the game was halted.
No makeup date was immediately announced.
As fans were still filing out of the arena, Hahn said Fischer was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital and was stable, breathing on his own and responsive.
"It's our understanding, the reports from the hospital, that he is fine and he will be fine," Babcock said.
Fischer was diagnosed with a heart abnormality in September 2002, causing him to miss two days of practice. The problem was found on an electrocardiogram as part of a routine battery of tests during the Red Wings' preseason physicals.
When the result was abnormal, Fischer was given a stress test that he passed. He said that his heart essentially is a little thicker than normal.
"I wasn't scared about the abnormality," Fischer said at the time. "But I was scared about not playing hockey again. That was a shock for me."
Play was stopped with 7:30 left in the period after the Red Wings alerted officials to a problem. Medical personnel worked on Fischer at the door to the bench for several minutes before he was wheeled back toward the Red Wings dressing room.
"First of all, everybody is definitely caught by surprise," Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman said. "We turn and see Jiri laying between the boards and the bench and we're not sure why.
The fiancee of Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jiri Fischer, of the Czech Republic, stands in an ambulance as she and Brendan Shanahan (14) look to where Fischer had a seizure on the Detroit bench late in the first period against the Nashville Predators in Detroit, Monday, Nov. 21, 2005. Fischer was given CPR at the bench and a defibrillator was used before he was removed on a stretcher. The game was called off with no makeup date immediately announced. Fischer was listed in stable condition at a local hospital.
"You fear for the guy's life at that moment. I can't remember anything like that."
The decision was made to resurface the ice then, and the remaining time was to be added to the second period. But the game was postponed instead.
"It was obvious to everybody involved that it was the right decision," Predators coach Barry Trotz said. "It was very disturbing to both sides and I think the NHL recognized it, the players recognized it. To be quite honest, the game became very secondary. When a friend or a teammate was in danger like Jiri was in, then the decision was made for everybody to reschedule it."
It was not immediately clear whether the game would be played in its entirety or resume from the point of the stoppage.
"Our primary objective is that Jiri is taken care of," Trotz said.
Red Wings forward Brendan Shanahan helped escort Fischer's fiancee, Avery, across the ice to the bench area.
"Obviously, she was very worried and concerned. She just wanted to be next to Jiri," Shanahan said.

The Flames took over the division leader by beating the Pens yesterday. What a tight race in our division though. Calgary 35 Vancouver 34 Edmonton 32 Colorado 31 My team got dethroned, rightfully so. They really suck on the road, and against our own division. The record is 5-7-2 against our division (and hasn't won a game against the Albertans ). If we have to play all the games of the season against our own division, we'll be dead last for sure.

Flames basically dominates the division. 8-2-1 At least Canucks record vs Western Conference is not bad and it's important when playoff comes. And I think Flames road record is bad. It's not that bad compared to Canucks but the number improved with the 2 wins on the road this time. Canucks may take the throne back if they won tonight though. Good Luck!
