Mo is with Elitserien? Cool, is it a Swedish team ( pardon my lack of outside-NHL knowledge). Interesting that he's playing in Sweden and the Swedish Canucks stay in Vancouver. In the paper, they said it's not just personat tax, but Sweden is taxing players with who's have long-term contract/insurance an additional 1.5% of their overall asset value or sth, got little confusing when it comes to tax but it sounds like a huge amount that they charge for tax, that's why Olli and Nazzy came back to N. America with other Swedish players like Lidstrom. And they said Peter the great has no contract with N. American team so he don't have to worry about that tax. Plus papa Forsberg is coach of Modo, all the more reason to play for Modo. Sure it's a huge amount. But it's still only 1,5 %. It's not like they'd starve if htey paid it. I'd probably done the same as them though Brendan Morrisson plays for Linköping HC.

Saturdays' been absolutely boring these days because there's no Hockey night in Canada . Good news for the Swiss Hockey fans (ie. Mrs. B ). Martin St. Louis joined Lausanne. OMG, Mrs. B, you gotta to go watch St. Louis, he's amazing. Other sad news, Zholtok died of a heart attack during a game . Heatley got hit by puck in his eye also during a game. He's also facing trial soon for his accident. All-Star game got cancelled next year. The chance of having a season is very slight ... that's how I feel anyway.

Not sure if you guys aware, but the NHLPA gave a proposal of a 24% pay cut to the owners/commissioner. The pay cut is so they don't impose a salary cap.
Now the ball is in Bettman's field to decide if they accept the pay cut proposal to resume this season. They said the decision will come tomorrow.
Anyway, I've been crossing my fingers since I heard about the pay cut last couple of days. I hope the stupid NHL ppl don't be greedy anymore and get the lockout done and over with.

I know they resumed talking and NHLPA had a proposal but no detail from my local TV.
Keep my fingers crossed.

Crap, there's no way in hell there'll be a season now. The owner rejected the pay-cut proposal and presented a counter-offer today, and the players rejected the counter-offer immediately. Fine. Don't play, we fans can save our money and spend it somewhere else.

More rejection. The Players won't accept the cap.....The sad thing is that I don't think about it as much anymore. I feel terrible that I don't miss it as much as I did at the begining

The team managed to get many children into ice hockey and open the new arena a year ago. Now all the steam is lost, especially to the Phoenix Sun, which has an exceptional year here with Steve Nash (my fellow Canadian ) leading the team.

The World Cup final of bandy, the more refined version of ice-hockey( ;D ), is played today between 16 times champs Russia and 7 times champs Sweden.

Hard to feel passionate about it anymore when we feel that the fans are really the one being screwed . I wish they stopped pretending that they are trying to negotiate when both only want what they demand and won't give an inch .

Bandy only really exists in Sweden, Finland and Russia. And some parts of Norway. They've tricked some former ice-hockey players from Minnesota into representing USA in the World Champs. They usually get beaten 1-20. Apparently Kazakstan has some bandy culture as well. Since they were #3 this year. Sorry, bandy isn't that big of a sport here either.

But if no deal this week, the season is really over.

I don't know if you've heard about this one. Three Swedish ice-hockey players were arrested by the police, on suspicion of rape, really close to a match between Sweden and the Czechs in Stockholm earlier this week. They were released the same night and the charges were dropped. Now it's been a couple of days and obviously the truth has come out, because these guys have been suspended from the national team for the remainder of the season, and it looks as if they'll be suspended from their clubs as well. The boss of the Swedish national team was talking about sexual degradation and exploitation, that they had disgraced Swedish ice-hockey. Most journalists think they should be banned for life.

Thanks for that Aphex I just hope there weren't any Luleå guys involved in this.
This sounds quite bad and which guys were involved?
I am thinking of starting a chat section on MTF where us minorities in the north can write in Swedish, Norwegian and the like? Good idea or not?

It was semi-famous Kristian Huselius; and not so famous Henrik Tallinder and Anders Lilja.

The players spoke today. They denied any wrongdoings. But they were a bit sorry for the inconvenience they caused their families, teammates and Swedish ice-hockey. They didn't mention the woman at all. And they blamed the media for stirring up controversy over nothing.

I heard that the NHL players will accept a salary cap but that won't end the strike. I only heard it very briefly and my husband was talking through the report. Oh well. Maybe someone else heard something?

Update on the Swedish hockey scandal. Two of the players, Huselius and Tallinder got sacked from their club Linköping HC. The third, Andreas Lilja, got suspended for the remainder of his contract, and help with rehabilitation. Today, the abused woman spoke in the press for the first time. She doesn't remember much of the night in question, only regaining conciousness once to discover a couple of men having sex with her. She suspects she'd been drugged. If her story checks out, those three guys are scum and have got away too easy. They should at least be in prison.
