Hehehe, hockey season is around the corner!!!! Okay, this is for Lee, though maybe you already know bcos it's been on the news for days. Nieuwy is a Leaf. He jumped for it when he got the offer from the Leafs. He's known to want to play for the Leafs so it's not a surprise. Now he can team up with his best friend, Roberts. Maybe Becca can decide whether or not if it's a good thing, bcos since the mid season last year, the Leaf's been signing veterans who's carrying major injuries, and it resulted in most of them not being able to play in the playoff. So signing Nieuwy is great, but he has a lingering back injury which I hope he has completely get over by now. And for the Canucks, we got Magnus Arvedson from the Sens ;D, I quite like this addition, since the likes of Kariya and Federov were all taken . With another new addition, Johan Hedberg, to quote what our GM said, Canucks now have more Swede than Ikea .

Thanks for the news Vera. I hardly have any hockey news here and I'm too lazy to dig up from internet!
Yeah Nieuwy. It's great that he can play with Roberts again and near his hometown.
Nieuwy had tons of injuries over the years, I still shivered when thinking about his knees but he has a very strong will.
OK Becca, you have a new Leafs fan here ;D ;D ;D

No problem, Lee. I thought you might like to hear that. Well, since I'm here. I saw a headline (but no news follows ) saying Gilmour retired. But I'm not sure if it's for real, it's not the first time he retires, so we'll see. And Bure might be heading for retirement himself . He's failed physical and his right knee is still unable to get better. He mentioned before he's going to retire instead of dealing with surgery after surgery in that knee. So I feared we might have seen the last of him . I'm so gonna miss the Russian Rocket, he bought back a lot of great memories, especially that year he scored those brilliant OT goals in playoff to bring us into the Final.

And on all those retirement note (including Mike Richter of the Rangers who also retired due to his lingering injury). Don't expect to hear that from Messier (and Lee should be happy too).
Messier signed another year with the Rangers. When asked about Richter's retirement, Mark said he's not going to say that next year will be his last, eventhough he's 42.
Is it a trend, all those greats came to the Rangers to end their career in great disappointment, Gretzky did that, Bure is on the verge of doing it, Richter didn't play the last 10 months and have to end up retiring. Maybe Messier should do something to avoid yet another big disappointing year for the Rangers so that he can retire in glory. So I don't like him much, but he surely deserved a better end.

That's a shame for Bure! He's so beautiful to watch on ice! He needs to learn from Nieuwy but I guess he is never as strong willed and determined as him.

I think Rangers traded his right to Sharks or Ducks Mark is different from Gretzky or Bure or Mike. He is just too tough which IMO, not that good for him. He will only retire when he can't skate or no team wants to sign him. *sigh* But, his toughness is one of the thing that I really like about him.

Or from StevieY . But of course, most of the Russian stars are brilliant but lack the persistent minds. I love Federov and Mogilny too, but I don't deny they falls into that catagory of Russian genius .

Apparently, Sharks has Messier's right as a Group III free agent. But somehow, maybe they sell the right back? I'm not sure how it worked but Messier is still a Ranger and he said he wants to finish his career with either the Rangers or the Oilers, that's quite appropriate.

I said that and sudden, Kafel and Marat came to mind. So it's hardly their faults that they are like that, it's simply a Russian thing. And everyone's entitled to resemble their cultural characteristic, right? I love the Russians no matter what ;D.

Gretzky has no fashion sense. I'm so sorry for Shane Dorn modeling the jersey. He's not a good looking guy already btw, Shane is the captain of Coyote now!

Ain't his wife used to be a model No doubt the team is dull. I guess that's the reason I don't like it very much even I live here. And the team now plays in Glendale which is so far away from where I live. Like Richmond and Coquitlan (?sp)

What the hell is going on with Cujo? I've heard rumours that he might be shipped to St Louis or the Rangers, but haven't actually read anything on it. Grrrr

And the team now plays in Glendale which is so far away from where I live. Like Richmond and Coquitlan (?sp) Well, you do know there's a Gretzky line of clothing, eh? It wasn't bad though, I bought my dad a Gretzky brand jacket once, it was quite good looking. Close, Coquitlam you mean. Well, it's not that far, bcos Coquitlam to downtown Vancouver is just as far and there's where the Canucks plays. But of course exciting team like the Canucks would have no trouble getting ppl to come . Mind you though, there were times when no one wants to show up even if the team is playing next door, you can ask Messier about that . Sorry, you have to excuse me for giving Messier the punch, like I said, I don't quite like the guy.

Grrrr Well, he could still be, having heard anything about him yet, except that he was out for six weeks because of some surgery. So it's understandable that the Wings has a little trouble at the moment trying to trade him.

For any of the hockey fans out there (Lee, Vera, Rebecca, anyone who didnt come out of the closet yet... ) and who likes a game, there is a fantasy league created in WTAWorld. I joined, but we need more people. There are only 4 teams so far, we can have up to 12. Anyone willing to join, see this thread www.wtaworld.com/showthread.php?t=87058I think it will be fun, and it doesnt make you spend too much time. Anyone willing to try?

Diss, thanks for the info. All my hockey info is from Vera now so how can I play? Vera, the newspaper had that ugly uniform wore by 6 players (both away and home) on front page of sports section yesterday and I asked my son what he thought about that logo of Yotes (that's how people call the Coyotes here) and he said it's growling instead of yawning or howling one. And seems everyone believes the Yotes will be last in their division

Its not a poll, its a fantasy league. With a draft and all. You create a team in that league listed in the thread I quoted, and a ramdom draft will be made. That means, you pre rank your favorite players and the computer will chose your players based on those rankings. Once you have your team, you can drop players, hire free-agents or trade with other league members. Every week, points and stats are made into fantasy points, and the more your players score for you the better. I guess thats it. It doesnt make you spend too much time... Im busy as hell (you are all sick of hearing that I bet ) and Im playing a fantasy football league... and it didnt stop me from signing up for the hockey one (in which I will totally suck. ). Vera, if youre interested, I suggest you take your spot as fast as possible. There are already 7 or 8 teams.

I don't mean poll. Hockey Pool is what its called here aka fantasy team. I had a team last season that flopped big time . Alright, I checked that out already. Still haven't decide yet but I know it's going fast. Because it looked a lot of work when GBHF (or what's his name again?) said roster change daily . Our pool, we never change roster, just a mid-season trade once. So it's a lot more managable. But you said the computer change the roster for u. Okay, maybe it's not so much work, I donno. I'll go check again and if it's not filled yet... But thanks a lot for letting us know, appreciate it.
