Hey, I just joined . It still looked very complicated. I hope I won't flop this time . Good luck with your team, Vera and ;D ;D Diss. I really can't bring up enough energy to join a hockey pool. Even when I was following hockey closely ( before my son is born) I was never interested in hockey pool.

Oh, pool! Thats what it means then. lol, sorry. Does it look complicated? It looked quite easy for me... Maybe I didnt get something? If it takes too much time, Im fried. Oh well, lets wait and see. If its like the football one, theres a draft and the computer will pick players for you in rounds based on your pre-rankings. Then, you can change your players or trade them with other people. Then I guess thats it. You can change your team anytime, but I dont think you HAVE to.

It's different from the atp manager game in the way that hockey is a team sport and each player's performance will be highly affected by his teammates and his coaches. Which, IMO, complicate things a lot more.

But I guess I'm getting a handle of things now, that I just go rank those players and the computer will draft them for us (correct me though if I'm wrong). The only thing that I'm not so sure is how many players I need to rank bcos I could have lose out in every round of draft and ran out of pre-ranked player to choose from, of course there's the strategy of pre-ranking the player, suppose. Sorry, I know you ain't the organizer, just that it doesn't seem the thread in WTAworld is visited by them any often.

Vera, I didnt mean anything like that! Far away from me saying youre not bright! I think the reverse actually! Im anal about chosing my friends, so i would never think bad of any of them! What I really meant was that I could have misunderstood some rule thinking it was easy while in actuality it was complicated. About your question, you just pre-rank as many players as you wish. The computer will ramdomly chose a draft priority for all the teams joined. The first priority player will automatically get his number one choice. So, lets say, I order my players like 1. Selanne 2. Sakic 3. Kariya 4. Fedorov 5. Shanaham You order yours 1. Bure 2. Selanne 3. Fedorov 4. Mogilny 5. Brodeur. Lee orders hers like 1. Moose 2. Fedorov 3. Selanne 4. Bure 5. Niedermeyer Lets say that the puter ran the priority ramdom thing and it says that Lee has the first pick, you have the second and I have the third. So, the draft will go as follows Round 1 Lee - Moose Vera - Bure Diss - Selanne Round 2 Diss - Sakic Vera - Fedorov (as Selanne is already picked) Lee - Niedermeyer (as all the others are picked) Round 3 Lee - (dont have anymore players ranked available, so the next available player from the DEFAULT pre-selection would be chosen. In this case, pick number one Naslund would be available) Vera - Mogilny Diss - Kariya Round 4 Diss - Shanaham Vera - Brodeur Lee - Bertuzzi (number 2 pick on default rankings) And so on. I hope this helps.

Vera, I didnt mean anything like that! Far away from me saying youre not bright! I I'm so sorry. I don't mean to freak you. I was just joking and I totally wasn't thinking that you mean anything. Sorry, my bad, guess I'm not so good at jokes either (alright, don't freak again, I'm really just joking around).

I think the reverse actually! Im anal about chosing my friends, so i would never think bad of any of them! Now I'm really feeling bad . Sorry, man. To make it up, I'll just give you a little news in case you didn't have time to catch up on the hockey world. Nolan has a little fracture somewhere at his back so he will be playing hurt until he can't stand no more then he'll have surgery. So I'm taking him off my pre-rank . And Nieuwy looks great and score a goal in pre-season, so he got a check from me. Oh, I figure out that auto-draft thing, but thanks a lot for spending the time to explain that to me. I was just impatient in nature and didn't want to think too much most of the time and that's why I said it looked complicated. But anyway, it seems like good fun and I'm going to spend a little more time thinking about how to rank those guys.

But anyway, it seems like good fun and I'm going to spend a little more time thinking about how to rank those guys. Just read this in tsn.ca Nolan: I'm 100 percent healthy TSN.ca Staff 9/17/2003 Toronto Maple Leafs forward Owen Nolan was on the defensive on Wednesday amid reports that a hairline fracture in his vertebrae and a bulging disc could limit his playing time this season. Nolan told reporters that he made the remarks about his back ‘in a joking manner’ and emphatically denied any health problems. “I don’t have a back problem,” he told TSN. “I’m 100 per cent healthy.” Nolan told The Fan 590 all-sports radio station that he would play through the pain and hold off surgery until it was absolutely necessary. Nolan, acquired by the Leafs at the trade deadline last March, endured back and hip problems during the 2003 playoffs. The Leafs are holding a pre-season camp in Stockholm and Helsinki. My bet is Nolan is lying through his teeth now. He probably had a prep talk from the management.

A professional hockey player joked about having an injury when he is not ? This is unheard of. So it's more likely the other way round that he had an injury but trying to hide it now. Anyhow, I'm not picking Nolan, or at least won't rank him high enough to make my team .

Oh, sorry I didnt understand your joke. lol. Nah, dont worry, its all cool. Thanks for the news. My pre-rank sucks. I used to follow hockey a lot closer some years ago so I only know the dinosaurs. And just a few of the new ones. Its just s*itload of Avalanches everywhere. Its gonna be funny.

One of those dinosaurs retired, that Roy guy , okay, I know you knew. It's too bad bcos we finally had a winning record against the Avs last season. He probably thinks that if he can't beat the Canucks, he might as well retired . But of course, Roy is still the best goalie ever. C'mon Jose, there's still time to catch up.

I quite like your team. Lucky you to get your 2 faves. I didn't get Nazzy , but that's totally my fault bcos I ranked Forsberg as my #1 but I didn't get him either . Here's mine: Iginla, Jarome (RW-Cgy) Kovalev, Alexei (RW-NYR) (good Ranger ;D) Mogilny, Alexander (RW-Tor) Gaborik, Marian (RW-Min) (better stop his holdout ) Recchi, Mark (RW-Phi) Whitney, Ray (LW-Det) Ronning, Cliff na (C-Min) (I don't know why he's not active ) Savard, Marc (C-Atl) Boguniecki, Eric (RW-StL) Ozolinsh, Sandis (D-Anh) Chara, Zdeno (D-Ott) Kaberle, Tomas (D-Tor) Sopel, Brent (D-Van) Jackman, Barret (D-StL) Salo, Sami (D-Van) Perreault, Yanic (C-Mon) Mara, Paul (D-Pho) (Some player I never heard of ) Nabokov, Evgeni (G-SJ) Biron, Martin (G-Buf) Legace, Manny (G-Det) ---------------------------------------- Well, I got Elmo ;D, and Iggy, not too bad. I think I quite like mine. Except goalie is major major weak. The Sharks better wake up this season, Nabokov is not too bad. I'm trying to get rid of Manny. I do like Legace, but with Hasek on goal, he'll be as good as a heated seat. I'm also considering other options. Is there a limit for picking up players from waivers?

LOL Lee, yes they are old. Old but good. I kicked the lovable Fleury (notice the irony) to hire LeClair, so one more oldie. And come on, who doesnt want Fedorov, Selanne or Chelios? And besides, I dont know the new players: I used to follow NHL a lot closer some 4, 5 years ago. And you dont like Giggy?? Do you or Lee see someone in my team thats BAD and should be kicked out fast? Please, let me know. lol No limit for waivers, Vera. You may kick and hire players as much as you want. Although, the waiver request period is like 2 days I guess.. Iginla is a great pick. And you did good picking Forsberg as the number one. He is the fantasy monster (as I read AFTER the draft, of course. ) There were some things I got screwed up with. Like, I should have ranked Zetterberg as one of my later picks. And Forsberg were like the number TEN on my pre-draft. Like he would last that long. I saw the NHL 2004 game in a store today. Hands scratching to buy it, but it was waaaay too expensive. Have to think a bit.

You have a dream team if all those players are at their prime. ;D ;D I just worried that most of them past their prime I am not sure Giggy can repeat his performance like the playoff and Salo, IMO, also pass his prime. But both will be their team's #1 goalie. I am not sure whether I can follow hockey news. I can only follow them on internet and ...............

I don't think anyone on your team has news (not that I know of anyway), so they are all active. But I think Fedorov is not good for you, maybe you can trade him to me . Hah, j/k. I'll try to post news here if I hear anything significant. I don't see your team being particularly old, well, Chelios can arguably be a grandfather , but the rest is okay. I think your D's are great. Ranking Forsberg first is only good if I actually get him. But I know he's probably the hottest player on any pool. I wouldn't think he would go past the first pick, maybe I really should have go for his teammate, Hedjuk. But hey, Iggy is going to rule, no!?! ;D Jiggy is fine. I mean, I don't think that playoff is a fluke, he's the real deal. Potvin, well, his pattern is that he'll make a big splash whenever he got traded to a new team, happened when he first come to the Canucks, then to LA. But like after a few months, he'll dropped like a stone. Let's see if it's any difference in Buf.

Salo is fine too. Potvin past his prime, that's for sure. Salo isn't Edmonton's problem, their Ds were. We absolutely ate them for lunch last season ;D. But I heard good things about Edmonton this year so maybe things will get better.

Well, someone drafted Larionov. At least none got Moose. THEY could be grandfathers. Oh, Fedorov is bad? Okay, Ill trade him to you. You just give me Iginla, Kovalev, Mogilny, Ozonlinsh and Nobokov for him. lol I didnt resist the temptation. Just bought NHL 2004. And this is a very busy week. Im gonna be screwed, I just know it. ;D

Wow, so Fedorov worth a whole PK unit! He did play as a forward And as a D-man in Detroit . Larionov still around . j/k, I know he's still around, a new team though, strange to not finish his career as a Wings. Maybe he lost faith in the guys with Wings (angels?) so he rather deal with the Devils. Oh, I got very bad news. Dany Heatley, that kid who stole last year's ALL STAR show as the MVP. He was in a car accident, broke his jaw and now facing a lot of charges for the reckless driving. But more sadly is that his teammate Dan Synder was thrown out of the vehicle and now in critical condition . Ahhh, so sad. I hope he's okay. He has a fractured skull. Praying for him.

new linemates... ESPN.com Cujo's on waiver. Wouldn't that be funny if he didn't get pick up and Wings stuck with 2 premium Goalies. I'm even thinking it's likely that he wouldn't get pick up. I mean, if they were able to trade him, at least Wings would have picked up some of his salary. But now any team pick Cujo on waiver will have to pay him the full 8 millions. All I can say is, poor Cujo . I myself picked up some players on waiver too ;D. Now I have Manny Fernandes instead of Manny Legace (the Wings' 3rd goalie ), and Yanic Trembley instead of Paul Mara (the guy I've never heard of). Not too shabby.

The Avs could really pay Cujo the 8 million. I mean, he plays for 8 million Aebischers. I signed a new player too. Kicked Hal Gill out and got Jason Spezza. Ill keep him seating on the bench untill he proves himself worthy of the trouble.

What a line-up there You pick up some good players from waiver, Vera! You like them? Cool, me too. Well, Fernandez played really good against us , so I figured I can use a good goalie. It's true that the Avs probably still have changes in their pocket since Paul came so cheap . But they could have picked up Cujo in a trade to make him come cheaper, however, maybe they don't want to give up any bodies to get him. Well, we'll find out tomorrow who got pick on waivers. Oh, those are training jersey, looks very very nice indeed. But I don't think they sell training jersey anywhere. I only see game jerseys sells everywhere. But maybe I'll see them on the web, everything's on sale on the web these days.
