"I was worried I was going to be the first guy in history to play with Mario and Joe and go pointless," joked Iginla.
I was so frustrated when his 1st period shorthand goal was called off. But dear Iggy persist.

I just noticed that all 3 goalies from Canada are Quebecois. Is the water different there that Canada has sooooo many great goalies from that province?

How is lying about your birthplace? Robin Regehr's birthplace is listed as Rosthern, SK but he is actually born in Brazil but his family moved back to SK

Oh, and yay to Team Canada. A big phew that is. The Czechs were clearly outplaying us in OT, they came on strong. But we got the W, so that's all good. Now, let's see what's gonna happen in Tuesday. The Finns is most impressive so far in this tourney, see what we can do. As for the NHL season, I don't think it's going to happen, that sucks big time.

Well done Finland to beat USA. And, I thought I'd never say this since they are our arch-rivals, good luck in the final! Hyvvää Suomi! ( Canadian friends. It'd be boring if you won everything)

As my Canadian hating friend pointed out, in what other sport does a team has home court advantage, refs from their own country, and the opposing team had to travel a couple of 1000 km only days before the match. All this happened in the SF Cze- Can. The World Cup is set up for Canada to win. Good of Finland rock the boat by beating the US. The question is can you guys really feel good about winning a totally unsporting event like this? Some more conspiracy theories on the eve of the big fight. Go Finland!

Although Canada has a one goal lead, (which Finland kept coming back and tied it up) they lack intensity and they are not hitting hard.

aphex, how about Canada and USA will never have home court advantage for world championship which held every year? Probably because USA and Canada don't want to organise the W Ch. It doesn't mean as much as the Stanley Cup. I know I sounded a bit harsh in that post, that was because I was just off the phone with a crazy friend of mine who really hates Canada when it comes to hockey I basically agree with him on most of the issues though. The most prestigious international level hockey competition should be more fair. Best thing would be to hold it in just one country and change inbetween the big nations. And not have Canadians reffing Canada . Ehrrm Congrats by the way

Hey, we won. Okay, to be honest, I'm not even that excited. Maybe my mood is dampened by that sad news of a lockout. I hate these 2 sides of ppl kept trying to put the blame on the other side, and why the hell they said sth like no hockey until 2012 . I think World Cup as the most important tournament is arguable. Somehow, I thought the Winter Olympics is way more important. But anyway, it's good to win than to lose, of course. Ahhh, I hope your friend don't hate the Canadians just because we are good in hockey, we are pretty bad in everything else, you know.

Well the Winter Olympics were when the NHL players played. They won't in 2006 says NHL. And the Nagano and Salt Lake City tournies still wasn't fair for a German or Slovakian or any outsider country of the big six. What is it with hockey an sportsmanship? Or don't NHL think there is money to be made outside North America or something?

If you want to see biased juding, watch the womens Salt Lake City hockey final Biased judging doesn't win you championships, or the US would have won that final... not Canada. Anyways, yes Canada had a definate advantage in the World Cup of Hockey, and maybe in a way it was tailor made for Canada to win. Frankly, nobody cared abot that as much as they cared about Salt Lake anyways. When Canada won Salt Lake, everybody from hick villiages to Vancouver were out jumping on their cars. Aside from the big cities, the celebrations over the World Cup were pretty subdued.

Also, it's not like Canada doesn't win when international tournaments aren't held in Canada. Canada *does* have the best team when pro players are playing. I guess Russia probably has the best junior teams.
