With the challenge system in tennis thriving and expanding, it is completely ridiculous that they don't use the same thing in football, if only for "goal or not". It's probably only because they need something to talk about in those damn football programs that I find so incredibly boring. And to hide the fact that football is indeed boring most of the time.
I'm happy for the German team but I can't take this sport seriously until they arrive in the 21th century.

Germany likely would have won anyway, but gah. That was painful. I was actually rooting for Germany until that happened, at which point I just felt uncomfortable. Poor drunk soccer hooligans in England!
Let that be the goal that brings on replay. Or at least like, a guy on the goal line at all times. HOW CAN YOU NOT HAVE REPLAY AND ALSO NOT HAVE A GUY STANDING ON THE GOAL LINE?@!
I don't have to understand football to know how stupid that is.

It's as easy as putting a guy on the line, or a goal judge. Even hockey gets this right.
I think offside is the biggest problem. Most of the time, the refs don't have a clue. So, abolish it.

I think offside is the biggest problem. Most of the time, the refs don't have a clue. So, abolish it. You can't. Search for "Rory Delap" on Youtube to see what would happen. HINT: there's no offside on throw-ins.

Japan. I generally like the South Americans, but have never warmed up to Paraguay and Uruguay. Maybe I'm anti-guay.

Uruguay have been playing decently. They actually have an attack. PAR were horrible. JAP was just more horrible. Spain's looking a little lost against C. Ronaldo and co.

David Villa wins it for Spain. Ronaldo, here is the door. Watch them lose to Paraguay now!
I agree, Uruguay is not a bad side, but I can't warm to them.

Paraguay managed to frustrate them quite well. That goal barely even made it.
Germany easily looked the most comfortable out of all the semi finalists.

As far as i understand there're big flaws in Del Bosqe's sctructure, so Spain is barely making it through. Germany, on the other hand, looks so well-prepared and is playing like a team. I could never understand why Argentina was considered a favourite, so I wasn't surprised at the result. I think Germany is a lock if they don't fuck it up and if Spain won't find some inspiration.

Yeah, the way the Germans have created goal chances in the last two games has been amazing. Quickly passing the ball back and forth and the whole front/middle of the team moving down the field together, always being in view of the player with possession and setting up situations for easy goals. In contrast NED seem to rely heavily on Van Persie/Robben/Sneijder to take on several defenders alone. They're good enough to do that most of the time but it's not the best team coordination.

Most importantly, Germany is an attractive team. Spain are attractiver. Huzzah for Holland! They're horrible finishers, whether it's converting a string of passes into a shot at goal or keeping an inferior team down during the last minutes of a match. Still, HUP HOLLAND HUP! Channel your inner SCHIAVO BELIEVE for the final...because the team on the other side will be better than you. Psychic Octopus picked Spain today. DRAMA.

I know a couple of Dutch people, one of them being an uncle of mine (not related by blood). So, it's okay if the win. I'll be rooting for Spain until they die though, because even though I went there and it turned out to be untrue, I still imagine Spain as sexy.
