Why can't I watch? There's my tears for the day. Except when Toad wins and Shriekpova loses. And Anduh, except I think he has a very good shot at winning.

Yeah, I think Anduh will win too because, you know, Chelala. But the knowledge that he could really fuck up the ankle if he goes over on it again is worrying.
Azza's noise is actually much, much worse than Shazza's, I think. Do they not feel really stupid doing it.

Why do people always go on about Azza's return? She gets it back very deep a lot of the time, but this is hardly Silliams teeing off on everything.

Maria's cruising so far - hope she doesn't collapse or turn it into drama.
Li seems the better of the two - don't see what's so special about Azza that the press is hyping her up as the favourite.

Neither do I, not remotely. Well, her results I guess - killing all the scrubs like a top player should, she's just been racking up the Ws more impressively than anyone else. I don't really get how though.

Parmentier and Makarova don't exactly scream a murderer's row.
Meanwhile, the Shara-Petko match is hideous. The RG stats, which are stingy with UE's, have each player at double the number of unforced errors versus winners.

Um, Petko?
As for Azza, she is just as much a beneficiary of the lack of adequate "replacement" on the SEWTA as everyone else is.

In all fairness, Maria had a first serve percentage of 81 in the opening set. Not much Petko could do about that - except maybe the unforced errors. Triple set point for Li Na!

Last 5 games for Li, as Azza goes out in yet another GS QF. This is really looking good for Li to win her first Slam here. Maria one game away from the SF.

Well, the better player won that Li played very well and within herself. Azza was decent in the first set but her collapse in the second after getting broken back says nothing good about her prospects at all.

Li seems the better of the two - don't see what's so special about Azza that the press is hyping her up as the favourite. Azza did cruise through all her earlier matches here, and she's pretty, and the sound effects give a false impression of authoritative hitting. I think that's about it.
