My dream final of Bartoli-Sharapova is just one round away! Which means it HAS to be a Schiavone-Li final which I'll be fine with so no complaints. I win.

Sharapova playing so well is good news, she used to be a real top player, winning slams against Serena and Justine, wta needs a real top player, not part time and almost retired ones.

Wasn't it Chela who lost to Henman (LOL) in the 2004 QFs?
Set point now to Chela!

Your dream final would make me all stabby. My dream final has a 10% chance of materializing, so no worries. I thought Maria was toast before the QF but considering how she picked it up and how well Li Na played as well, I think that one could go either way - Maria has a good shot of making the final. The problem is Cake. Franny will use her spin to have her running side to side and won't donate errors like a ballbasher would, nor is she a headcase like Sveta. The way things are shaping up, this is Schiavone's title to lose. She's the only one left who knows how to play on clay. And can effectively expose poor movement (Bartoli and Sharapova).

I'm pleased to see Rafa up a set and a break. Things going much better than I expected.
Everyone I've been wanting to win has been winning lately, so there's something wrong with the universe. I expect the semifinals and/or finals to spit in my face and bring me back to earth.

I only just tuned in but he's keeping the errors in check and picking the right moment to hit a winner or let Toad make the error. He just broke to 15 to get the double break. No pumping fists or shrieking Vamos - very composed and straight forward. But I've only seen 2 games so far where he held easily and then broke easily.

Nadal's been very solid and made only a handful of errors, the commentators tell me. Soderling though has made more errors than usual and that's probably because this is a level up from the competition he's faced so far.

Soderling swats two forehand returns long to let Rafa have another comfortable service game.
Also for the first two sets Rafa's first serve has been going in aroun 75%-80% of the time whereas Soderling is at 45%-50%. Also, Rafa at 9 UEs while Soderling has around 23 UEs. Toad's just not in it.

Lex's prediction of a dark horse champion could turn out to be correct. Had he known about the Babolat balls and the dry courts, he would surely have chosen Li and not Kvitova.

Ominous form from Maria.
I would like Li Na to be the double AO/FO finalist but you know life never works out like that. Maria is going to beat her.
You could believe 2009 never happened watching this Soderling-Rafa match.

And Muzza fooled us with his "ankle injury". He didn't fool me! I've been well-trained by St. Kim to expect more, not less, from these "injured" players. I have had so much fun watching RG this year, right up till today. So I can't really complain if things aren't going my way at this late date. And Rafa's still around, and Na Li for one more day, so could be worse. I just wish the Wheels would come Off for a certain annoying Russian, then everything would be pretty good.

For some reason ESPN2 is showing set 2 of Anduh. And there's actually a little "LIVE" logo up in the corner. Because, you know, so very few people have access to the internet and know this is not so.

You could believe 2009 never happened watching this Soderling-Rafa match. Maria served phenomenally (approx 80% first serve percentage) but had an assist from Petko's errors. Toad has picked it up in the third but was spraying the ball initially. This match has been ho-hum so far. I expect Federer-Djokovic to provide the firecrackers, though.

After Maria beat Radwanska I got a bad feeling about all this. Something in the way she stormed back from triple setpoint down and won that set in no time flat. I'm worried we are looking at CAREER SLAM OMGWTFBBQ.
