That game was a missed opportunity for Fran. Came to life and played well in it, but Li still moves ahead.

Heh, when Li's even winning the improvised touch points you know she's on a roll.

Woke up at 5-3. I haven't seen Li have to do much to win points, Fran is just...not on point today.

Fran narrowly escaped going down a double break there.

That was an important hold for Fran - could prove to be critical. That was a bad FH miss for Li on breakpoint.

This is, so far, the Least Stupid match I've ever seen Li play.
I think clay helps her a lot by giving her time to reject ideas for insane shots.

Oh wow, Fran is completely off her game.

The biggest difference between Li Na 2011 Vintage and previously is that she is using strategies, and her brain generally. Also staying healthy.

Heh, weren't we all rooting like this for Fran last year? Either way, I'm very happy, but I think Na needs this more. Two final chokes in a row might crush her.

Either way, I'm very happy, but I think Na needs this more. Two final chokes in a row might crush her. That's what I'm afraid of. Li Na was hitting SO DEEP, continually, until a few games ago. Now she's gone all women's tennis tentative, and that makes me very sad. If she loses, fine, but not this way. I had enough of this with Mauresmo.

Louise Engzell is such a wimp of an umpire. Just tell the players your decision, don't consult them.

Louise Engzell is such a wimp of an umpire. Just tell the players your decision, don't consult them. I think they threw her in here as a sink-or-swim deal post-Fognini, and I don't think she's handling it well. She might lose her Gold Badge! Or whatever.
