Post by Bruguera's heavy balls on Jun 4, 2011 1:50:35 GMT -5
I have no idea on who will win, I don't know if Na not Moskouri loves heavy topspin shots because it allows her to take them on the rise and flatten them, or if heavy topspin bother her a lot and she hates hitting balls over her head.
I don't expect a good match, and as awful as it may sound, I would like to see Na win because it would be good for the game (Asian market blah blah)

Their h2h is 2-2, 1-0 to Fran on clay - she beat Oh Na Na in the 3rd round here last year.
I agree with Hurley! I think I want Na to win, I don't want her to lose two finals in a row. But a Fran repeat would be sweet too. (And really, you have to think Na has a shot at Wimbledon and the USO, if she can make the final here.)

I can't remember a final I've looked forward to more. Me, too, at least if you mean on the women's side. Love both, love their games, love their heads. Sure I would have loved to see Kuzzy or Bepa here, but now I'm spared the torture of watching them choke. Am rooting for Leena because she can go on to do more; she can shake things up at the top all year long, and Franny really can't. And SEWTA is desperate for some serious shaking at the top. Or, she could win this and then fade away in a grotesque whirlpool of first-round losses. Either way would be fun!

Ha, Linds/Tina are down a break in the 2nd set to Testud /Temesvari. I'm surprised to see there's a pretty good-sized crowd for this! Not in the expensive seats, of course.

That was fun. AT/ST took set 2, but Linds & Martina stormed back and won the super-tb 10-0.

I'm rooting for Li Na since Fran already has a Slam and we need to spread the love. But I won't complain if Fran wins.
I expect Li Na to win the title, though.

Comment via Twatter on the BBC: "2 players who wake up thinking 'How can I win?' not 'What shall I wear?'. So good for the game."

I think they probably thought both. It's possible!
The popularity of both is real proof that SEWTA's glam-oriented marketing is so unnecessary. Play good tennis consistently and the players' personalities emerge naturally. Who knew Lee Na was such a comedian back in 2006? Also, Davenport. Couldn't be further from the image SEWTA has always wanted to push but ended up so popular.

Franny's going to have doubts about the drop shot now ... Li Na can move. First break!

Both playing well, I think. Currently, Li's "playing well" beats Fran's "playing well", so Fran's going to have to find a different sort of play to win. Which is what she does, I guess.

Franny's going to have doubts about the drop shot now ... Li Na can move. First break! Yeah, Li really does tick both key boxes - a basher who can run. It's just that usually she's so slow to react to short balls because she's so glued to the baseline. Not the case today so far!

Li won the first set against Kim as well - can she keep this up, though? If she starts shanking, Fran can get back in it and won't give her the chances Maria did.
