Centre Court Gentlemen's Singles - Quarterfinals Jo-Wilfried Tsonga(FRA)[12] vs. Roger Federer(SUI)[3] Gentlemen's Singles - Quarterfinals Andy Murray(GBR)[4] vs. Feliciano Lopez(ESP) No. 1 Court Gentlemen's Singles - Quarterfinals Bernard Tomic(AUS) vs. Novak Djokovic(SRB)[2] Gentlemen's Singles - Quarterfinals Rafael Nadal(ESP)[1] vs. Mardy Fish(USA)[10] Normally I'd say "Go Tomic!", but I just cheered for a Croat in Big Brother, so let's not go OTT.

Ah, there might be one upset. Probably the top four roll.
Lopez has won only one set from Andy in four career meetings. But his chance is here and now if it's ever going to come. Going five with Kubot makes me doubt him, though. Good tournament even with a loss.
Fed has lost one match to Tsonga and it was the most bizarre encounter ever. He dropped a sluggish first set in a breaker, then went into cruise control mode. The second set went 6-1 and he built a 5-1 lead in the third ... only to lose it! Then, trailing 5-6 and 0-40 on his serve he somehow pulled it together to hold and force a tiebreak which he promptly lost 7-3 or so. It was such a bizarre loss.
So I guess he can lose that match. In their most recent match somewhere on clay, Rog won easily playing about 50% of what he can. You never know what Tsonga you're going to get.
Tomic will no doubt lose to Novak but I wouldn't be shocked if he won a set. When he gets hot, he's dangerous.
Rafa may or may not be injured. He'll beat Fish either way, I think.

Fed is 4-1 up already, with 2 breaks of serve (I think) And Djoko is gonna drop shot Tomic to death today, 3 drop shot winners already
At least Tomic didn't follow suit and held for 3-2

Djokovic killing Tomic with dropshots atm

It's a canny play to realise that as good as Tomic is on defence, his forward movement is a real weakness compared ti his lateral movement.

Tomic looks a bit Murrayish, game-wise.

Maybe Tsonga will get blanked in this TB.

And Tomic now breaks in the 1st game of the 3rd set! Djokovic's dropshots becoming worse.

Post by lexpretend on Jun 29, 2011 8:30:28 GMT -5
Tsonga playing three great points at 0-5 in the TB somehow just underlined the futility of it all. Back to Tomic and he's broken again

Okay really boring QF matches. And yesterday was no matter with only Lisicki-Bartoli being semi-interesting in the second set.
I hope Anduh-Deliciano is better.
