We are perilously close to a Suarez Navarro/Soler-Espinosa 3R match at the US Open. Obviously. CSN wouldn't be a bad player to have there. She should really be solid top 50, damn injuries. She's certainly better than Simo_ona. Cetkovska forever in my bad books for this. She had a job to do! She failed! LOL @ the Berdman/Fogs score.

What was the weirdness at the end of the Petzschner/Tipsarevic match about? Petzschner looked pissed off about something, they had words and took ages to shake hands, but they did so in the hand and hugged, so they must have made up. Was watching one of the blessed commentator-free feeds and couldn't hear exactly what was said.

Phew - Zheng served at 4-1, looked like she was gonna let both breaks slip away as Petkorazzi had a point for 4-4, but Jie held on. 5-3.

Petkorazzi concludes the set with a FH into the net, a FH long and a DF.
Zheng played really well before that, though.

Petzschner looked pissed off about something, they had words and took ages to shake hands, but they did so in the hand and hugged, so they must have made up. Was watching one of the blessed commentator-free feeds and couldn't hear exactly what was said. I watched it. Petzschner was never pissed off at Snotso -- in fact, Snotso hit an ace on MP, Petz started walking to the net, and Snotso DEMANDED to replay the point because he thought his serve was out and the linesman was apparently waffling on his call. After Snotso stood around and said he was going to serve again, the umpire finally called the match and Snotso was forced to accept the win.

Zheng can hit such great winners, too. Right in the corner or on the line. The Asian players have such little margin for error when they're being aggressive though.

Zheng, like CSN, is a very good player, and a deep run wouldn't be surprising were it not for the fact that, like CSN, it would happen right in the middle of a injury comeback struggle.
But I guess when we have "top players" like the ones we have, these things can come out of nowhere more easily.

I think the match Zheng played against Silliams a few weeks ago demonstrated that the "struggling" part of her comeback is over - she's basically a threat again, it's just going to take some time for her ranking to catch up.
CSN, I haven't seen play in aeons, but her results haven't been awful lately.

Yeah, but there is a step one needs to take from "playing okay" to getting the Ws. Especially at a Slam.
Anyway, Zheng didn't win yet, and, let's face it, SSE has played much better than CSN over the last two rounds, so don't ink her in automatically.
