Just like Oudin! Oh well, I want to watch more tennis, but not Screamapova, so

I thought it was weird that the commentator said that Sharapova "unfortunately won" the AO, and then I remembered she beat BAG in the final.
Gosh, it's been 4 years. I remember that JJ vs Paszek match like it happened yesterday.

Hasn't she been with him for a while. I remember WTAWorld insulting her about it. Yes, they call her Petraphile.

Makarova has had a hell of a run thus far. I'm probably crazy for thinking she can win this.

Oh dear...he is really...young in the face. He really is. Doesn't look 17, for sure. Oh, well. I don't judge love. Like most other WTA players have been any better.

To be fair Petra looks older than her age. They could theoretically both be college students. She'd be a senior, and he'd be a freshman who skipped a grade.

I think I might send the Chrisses a memo regarding Wimbledon. THE ONLY ONES WHO THOUGHT SHARAPOVA WAS THE FAVORITE WAS YOU TWO!
God.
I had thought Maria's form was going to be good enough to carry her through Petra in the semis but now I am not sure. The Lisicki match indicated Maria is not going to be as devastating in the late rounds. The errors and double faults will come if her belief drops and her tension rises.
As for this match, I think she's going to take it easily. Makarova hasn't got enough from the baseline.

Maria is sort of the exact opposite of a bug server, isn't she? She's a bug returner. But the effect is the same because of how the women play. She has Seles/Davenport GOAT returning ability and she and Serena are probably the only players today who are at that level.
So if she could serve a second serve into the court, that would be the complete package. Alas.
One smart thing she does do now is put in a lot of first serves. That at least minimizes her big weakness albeit at the expense of doing real damage with the first serve.

Ma$ha is a great returner, but Makarova's puffball 2nd serves make it easy.
Petra should beat her still. Should. Sigh.

Yeah, I can't ever root for Sharapova. Not with that unimaginative ballstriking, shrieking, OCD rituals between points and constant fistpumping. Serena would be killing her right now

Murray-Nishikori is deceptively close. I have a feeling that if Kei can play just 10% or 20% better, he will start winning.

I guess that never happened.
Ugh, I would have enjoyed seeing Silliams murder Ma$ha. As it is, Ma$ha even has a shot at the final with how Shitra has been emerging - though our HOPE lies in the fact that Shitra's only really emerged against fast players who can get every shot back and annoy the hell out of Petra, who absolutely trashed Dushevina and Kirilenko (and BAG until she missed the smash).

I kinda always forget about it, but I really really like Fit Dave. He fights his heart out there. Reducing Djokovic to pushing is something to admire. Another Set Point for Novak. Novak's forehand CC is fantastic. 6-4

Vinci and Errani playing doubles is more exciting than that. I watched their match, so I know.

Djokovic wins the second set TB. Coming back from 2-4, winning the last 5 points. I have enough of this match for now, will be back in about 1 hour when they're at 3-2 in the third set.
