Ha! Guess I don't have to feel bad about missing that match. From the score I had foolishly assumed it went quickly and painlessly.

Maria's comments in response to Aga complaining about her grunting. ;D Q. Radwanska was one player that said she thinks the noise you and Azarenka make is excessive and she'd like to see the WTA change the rules to prohibit that. MARIA SHARAPOVA: Isn't she back in Poland already? Q. Yes. MARIA SHARAPOVA: When did she get a chance to say that? Q. After she lost her quarterfinal. MARIA SHARAPOVA: She lost the match? Q. Yes. MARIA SHARAPOVA: You've sure obviously asked me this question before. I've heard it a few times over my career. You've watched me grow up, you've watched me play tennis. I've been the same over the course of my career. No one important enough has told me to change or do something different.Maria gives me so much life.

I knew someone was going to bring that up to Maria.
WOW is all I can say. SO bitchy, I'm sort of impressed.

Tina chimes in. Q. Where do you stand on the grunting issue? The WTA issued a statement. MARTINA HINGIS: I don't know. It wasn't really my issue, so when I played the players like Sharapova or Seles, I don't know, if you keep winning you don't think about it. The moment you're losing it's probably more distracting. I don't know. Q. Did it ever put you off? MARTINA HINGIS: No, not really. No. It's just sometimes when they were stretching a little bit more, you're like, What are you doing? The more they had to stretch the louder it got. Or sometimes it's like a heavy grunt and it's on the service line and the ball doesn't have any weight on it. You're like, Okay.

Hingis' bitchiness is much more palatable. She manages to insult everybody without even breaking a sweat.

Maria was ice-cold there, huh? I agree with Hurley - that was sorta funny. MariaBot broke down and spat out some venom.
Back to Nishikori-Murray for a minute. No, it never came together for Kei but it's worth noting that once again Murray left a good portion of control to his opponent. Even against Kei who is a defensive player Andy wasn't really comfortable going for winners. Murray will go for his shots primarily when he's put on the run. He's really, really good at it but you wish he would take more initiative with regular rally balls. Things would be easier.
His last 2 matches with Novak were good. He won the second, he should have taken the first. He can beat him but why do I think he will not?

Ma$ha was right, though. The umpires and tour officials don't give her a hard time about it, so why should she care. Tell the ump to force her to shut up. And then if Ma$ha goes spastic, good.
